and it's awesome. I'm used to much older Descendents that is really abrasive, often sticking to being in-your-face with their juvenile rebellion and self-deprecation, only occasionally delving in more melodic pieces. On 'Merican, there's plenty of melody, with high energy and speed as well. The lyrics are definitely more mature, but still along the same lines: funny love songs, longing for girls who have left, anti-American songs, and the VERY punk "I Quit". "'Merican" is probably the best song, a message about how patriotism includes questioning the decisions of your countries leaders and knowing the truth about the corrupt roots of the United States. It's a fantastic EP, and I wish there was more of it. Fortunately, it looks like there will be, soon. The Descendents have a new album coming out called Cool To Be You. I cannot wait. I suggest everyone who even remotely likes the Descendents pick this up, seeings how it's only $6 or $7. It might just be 15 minutes long, but it's 15 minutes you can keep listening to.

I've been trying to get this thing for weeks but the local record store doesn't have it and the lady there can't seem to get a copy in. I posted a message about it a couple weeks ago, glad someone has heard it, maybe I'll go try some more places today.

I really like the Descendents. Does anyone know what the exact release date for COOL TO BE YOU is? |

I got 'Merican yesterday, and it's pretty good, it isn't as fast as their earlier stuff but so far I'm really enjoy "'Merican" and "I Quit". Cool To Be You comes out on March 23rd. Some of the recording on both the EP and full length were recorded very close by, which is cool being I live in Delaware.

Man, I love the Descendents, I've seen them 5 times I think. But Everything Sucks well, sucked and so has everything they've done since the first time Milo left. But the good old days will never die. Hope, Bikeage, Kabuki Girl, Get The Time... Amazing punk rock tunes. Makes me wanna find my copy of Liveage. |
