I have a MD recorder. How do I transfer the recording onto my computer, so that I can make MP3s? |

Plug your MD into your soundcard. If your soundcard only has a 1/8 inch plug, go buy an RCA or quarter inch adaptor plug (or maybe you won't have to if the MD also has a headphone jack or a line-out that uses 1/8). Then, using one of many available programs, rip the stuff into mp3s. You can do this using the software included with your soundcard much of the time. Otherwise you can easily use programs like MusicMatch Jukebox. Just set the recorder option for the quality you want the mp3s to be, hit record on the program and let the first song play. When the song is over, hit stop, repeat process for rest of tracks (unless you wanna record the whole recording without the in-between track pauses). Really, really easy once you get the hang of it. You can also do cassettes and vinyl this way, though vinyl can be a little tricky at times. Also, a lot of soundcards offer editing programs you can use to clean up the recording, enhance the recording, just whatever you wanna do really. There are a shitload of online tutorials that are way more in-depth than what I've written, so you might wanna check some of those out. |

just bear in mind, while using a mindisc to record is digital, by then using 1/8th plugs into a analog soundcard, it is not digital anymore, but then again if your ultimate goal is to jamn it down to mp3 so you keep it on the headphones and off the home stero, this probably doesnt matter
is anyone on the east coast taping these shows and putting them in wav or shn?
