There was an ad on TV the other night...Frank Black+rest of Pixies names came up on screen, and it was announced that the legendary Pixies were reformed and that they were supporting Chilli Peppers...as a one-off exclusive Irish date!! That means it's preety much official-unless your willing to travel abroad, fellow celts, your gonna have to see the Chillis! It's a pity, but they're not the worst band they could've supported, would'nt MIND seeing them, but the Pixies headlining their own full-length show would be preferable...ah, well.

CARL.

Im not happy with this RHCP stuff, its wrong, but the shows start early on (about 4pm i think). I'm pretty sure the Pixies will get a long set. It should be a co-headline tour. With the Pixies playing last

Its a pile of shit. How many times has Frank Black and the Catholics been here in Ireland and has had great support? He knows too well that he should put on decent Pixies gig here in Ireland, even if it is in the Point... Brixton Academy has 4 shows confirmed... Holy shit man, surely to fuck they've got to play at least one proper gig here???!!!

At the Frank Solo gig in TBMC, I seriously got the vibe that Frank was judging his crowd... y'know, to see how young plenty of them were... maybe to make up his mind to get back together with Pixies for a tour... Hope to Christ he sorts something out over here. I'm bollocksed if I'm going to the Phoeno to see 'em support RHCP. No way. I was big in support of them reforming... but I'm starting to think it's a disaster bigtime...

Only a full-length Irish show might dissuade me... Please God!

I feel your pain dude, but I'd still go just for the pixies.

For ten thousand years he slept, his mind feeding on the nightmares of the weak. Now he has awakened. As the night turned crimson, the fire-blade shattered and his power died. Then, the slaughter began...

it's CRAP, CRAP, CRAP, CRAP!!! Pixies are bigger now, especially in Ireland, than they've ever been. 2 new generations of fans since I saw them last and unfortunately alot of those fans won't see them this time round, even if they buy tickets. They'll be a speck on a distant stage with crap sound among a mass of RHCP fans. Most of the die harders (but not me) I know refuse to line MCDs pockets and help them sell out their other dodgey enormodome extravaganzas where music always suffers, so won't go. This aint about music folks, it's about economics. And I for one am very dissapointed. I'll be there and I'm happy to see them again but I'm not at all impressed with the circumstances.

Don't get me wrong. Although I have very little time for MCD (or any MacDonalds style promoters), and I'm not happy about the circumstances, I'd never miss a chance to see the Pixies (or Frank) again. Someone in another thread was going on about the pixies NOT being the greatest 'rock band' of all time, but to me, and many of my generation, they are! As a friend of mine once said " Charles Thompson is our Generation's John Lennon", and personally I agree.

I'm happy as hell they're reforming at all and doing these concerts and I have a ticket for the Phoenix Park - don't like the circumstances either but it will be a hell of a lot better seeing my favourite band for the first time ever then not seeing them at all.
What kind of a crowd are these greedy sons of bs looking for? (promoters that is)

Hope it's sunny for the Pixies (and raining for the Chillis).

Interesting though - the Phoenix Park tickets went on sale on Jan 6th and were advertised on radio for a couple of weeks with steady sales. Pixies were announced on the 1st of Feb and tickets sold out within a couple of days!!
