People either record it from the audience with a high quality recorder and high quality mics (like a DAT), or some even get to hook into the sound board, which would yield the best quality for a bootleg.

This reunion should be HEAVILY bootlegged. (like, i think it should be not i think it is definitely going to be) Someone should organise a bootleg of the first show and put it on the ftp

If I could get a direct soundboard hookup, I'd do the Winnipeg/Saskatoon shows. Don't have the experience or equipment to be entrusted with a room recording.
I'm considering bringing my palm pilot for the setlist and updating Dave on what they're playing every now and again, but that'd probably pull me a bit too far out of the concert enjoyment...

Does your Palm have a wifi connection? Perhaps there's a hotspot near the gig, or inside, and you can upload the setlist in REAL TIME!

Nah, it's a palm/cell, so probably I'll just send instant messages to his email if I do it. Maybe every 5 tracks or so, send a message or something to that effect. If I (and the venue) had wifi on my laptop and was plugged in to the soundboard, though, we could stream it pretty nicely. Of course, that isn't the case, but damn it'd be cool. I hope Frank gets HearItAgain or (better yet) CBC to record the thing, since none of the above is likely to happen (well, maybe the 10 minute setlist updates, but I make no promises).

There are some of us already working on the project. Most of the pixies concerts from 89 on were taped, it will happen again this time, and probably in good quality. The problem shows, and they should be a big problem are those first canadaian shows before they hit vancouver. Thats a black hole for taping, unless someone who knows what there doing road trips it. |

I'd like to know if there are any legalities between us and recording bootlegs. I talked to Scott when I worked for F.B. & the C. a few years ago about taping one of their shows. He said I could tape it however I wanted, but legally couldn't do it through the soundboard. And different tours and venues differ in their stance towards bootlegging. I loved this last Primus tour. I wound up being in Vegas and Minneapolis during two of their shows. They had a little section by the sound board taped off just for bootleggers. It was very nice. I'd like to see something like that on this tour.

i wouldn't expect a bootleg-friendly policy from the pixies.too much money involved.frank black solo can control every aspect of his music (including "illegal" taping) with the pixies with all the managers, lawyers and tour crew around it will be a lot more diificult.

you need to go stealth taping the pixies, but that is the way its always been with them. Even though a ton of them were taped in the past, it was done under the stealth policy |

How does Frank feel about taking photos at shows? I'm planning to buy a new lens just for the occasion of seeing them live and am kind of worried about getting screwed over and not being able to take my camera in. |
