Dates Announced for Pixies Reunion Tour by Richelle Chuatuan | 02.09.2004
Alternative rock legends the Pixies have finally announced the dates for their “warm-up” reunion tour, marking the first time that the foursome have performed together since they disbanded in 1993. The 11-city outing will run across parts of Canada and the States, playing in even far-off places like Saskatchewan and Boise. The tour kicks off on April 14 in Winnipeg and concludes with their much-anticipated appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on May 1. After Coachella, the Pixies are scheduled to kick off a European tour that will run from May 28 to July 10. Thus far, the only confirmed dates on the Euro tour are opening performances for the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Dublin’s Phoenix Park on June 12 and Paris’ Parc des Princes on June 15.
For now, guitarist/vocalist Frank Black, bassist/vocalist Kim Deal, drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago are busy practicing and getting ready for their tour. As previously reported, a retrospective CD and DVD from 4AD/Beggars Banquet are also in the works.
