Anyone care to speculate where the Pixies will play in NYC? The last gig they played in NYC was at The Ritz (which no longer exists), which had a capacity of 2,000 (according to some web page I found). We saw how how easily they sold out two nights in Brixton, which has a capacity of 4,300. Are they this popular in the city? Here are some possible venues:

Venue Capacity
Radio City Music Hall 5,900
Theater at MSG 5,000
Hammerstein Ballroom 3,000
Roseland Ballroom 3,000
Beacon Theatre 2,800
Irving Plaza 1,200
Bowery Ballroom 575

Did I miss any? What do you think?

If they're headlining, maybe a show at beacon and a show at irving. But i'd LOVE to see them at bowery, it's my favorite venue.

The Bowery is that small? It's such a cozy place. No wonder I felt so comfortable. I've only seen two shows there. Toadies and FB&TC's.

Ideally, if I could get a ticket, the Mercury Lounge. If not, Irving's cool. Just not the Town Hall.

I want to be a singer like Lou Reed

All I hope is that they do not pick up Hammerstein. I am afraid that the sound will not be good. Instead a show at the Roseland would be fantastic

I know they'd never play mercury. That was just a idealized, dream-type, wish list thingy. Frank did do a solo acoustic gig there when DITS dropped, with special guest apprearences by afew select catholics. I, sadly, couldn't get into that show and had to wait nearly an entire month until the entire group played Irving to see him.

I really don't care where they play, even if its the rotten, uncomforatble seats at the apollo, as long as I can get a ticket.

I am a big fan of the Irving Plaza, though I really don't have anything to compare it to.

Saw Frank at the DIY convention yesterday. He said the warm-up tour before Coachella would be in the Northwest only. Think he said the opening date would be Eugene, Oregon. Floop asked him if this was a one-off, or if touring would continue. Said he couldn't say now- has to see how it goes.

my money says it would either be Hammerstein or Roseland... the smaller venues would be too small, and the Garden is too big. MAYBE they'd do Radio City, which would be kinda cool... but my guess is Hammerstein... it's big, and dont forget, those of us Pixies fans who saw them the first time around are getting older now, so some people will want to sit down! :)

oh, I hope for radio city, beacon theatre or bowery ballroom. I think roseland is awful. the sound is so bad there. I saw tons of shows there, and none sounded good. Bowery is place for perfect sound. some big bands choose that for five nights in a row to avoid roseland.

On one of their very last tours back in the ealry 90s they had played Rodeland. Roseland is pretty big. I would say Roseland or Hammerstien. Iriving if they really don't expect a big turnout. Then we can all drop down to Philly and probably catch them in the Electric Factory.
