Good idea. Perhaps that's what "Frank Black Francis" will be; a FB+Pixies best of. |

hey marcel!
good to see you here too!
It's me, Jop, from the Throwing Muses concert in Utrecht last year. Your site of 50 foot wave rocks! I hope they hit Europe soon. Guess you'll be at the dutch pixies shows too? Hope to see you there.
(btw, whatever happened to our email contact?)

For God's sake people, when are we gonna stop moaning!!! They are never gonna be able to keep everyone happy with this. The Pixies wrote so many good songs that it's impossible to fit them all on a 'Best Of'. I don't really see why you should care too much anyway, you own all their records don't you? And if not, GO AND GET 'EM!!!
Why no 'The Happening'??? (kidding!!!) |

heh, ta Homer (can I call you that for short?) - I think it's safe to say this Best Of isn't for you or me, it's for new fans, and people who didn't realise "Death to the Pixies" was a best of...
whereas the DVD is for everyone! hoorah! |

I'm still hoping for an extra show in Holland. I'm not to keen on Pinkpop, I may even skip it and go see them at Rock Werchter... |

Ohh, exams blow Gustav
I have high spirits for more dutch shows I mean a festival tour is ok, but a real show is what we want I think I'll be at the pinkpop and werchter ones I haven't been to one of them before But from what I read, see and hear I think that Werchter is way cooler than Pinkpop

I like that the songs are in somewhat chronological order. I am very happy that "Alec Eiffel" is on there.

My own best of i created over a year ago ... (it's in alphabetical order because i loved the idea that the pixies played live shows like that in '89) I also called it DTTP...
Alec Eiffel All Over The World Blown Away Bone Machine Born In Chicago Debaser (Demo Version) Dig For Fire D=RxT Ed Is Dead Gigantic (Single Version) Gouge Away Hang On To Your Ego (Demo) Hangwire Havalina I Bleed I Can't Forget In Heaven (BBC) Lovely Day Manta Ray Planet of Sound Rock Music Story Weather Theme From Narc There Goes My Gun (BBC) U-Mass Velvety (Instrumental Version) Wave Of Mutilation Where Is My Mind? Wild Honey Pie (BBC) Boom Chicka Boom I Said You Fuckin Die Speech
30 songs! 80 mins I still wanted about 5-10 more songs!

I think the song
All Over the World
Is one of the best songs ever created by the pixies.
As you know, it is off the album that Frank has called the Pixies best...bossanova.
I am surprised one except lucas buck mentioned this song....sure, its not a "hit" but still a very good song. |

I mentioned it as one of my top three Pixies songs. Excellent stuff, and Bossanova is my favorite Pixies album.

Everytime I think that Bosnova's surf tomes make it the best Pixies Album, then I get sucked into the great Punk sound of TLM. But then there's all of thos spectacular songs on Doolittle that broke things wide open. Still, SR/COP have such a truly Pixies unique style. I'd have different opinion of what should be on the Best-of every day, hour, minute that you ask. But as others on the thread have already suggested, what true fan really needs a best-of if you already own all of the material and have access to a CD burner. I am gonna get that DVD though. -roger.

all over the world has always been in the top 2 of fav pixies songs.
apparently, it started out as 2 separate songs, but one day they just segued them together and they decided it sounded pretty damn good, so ended up as 1 song.

I have been listening to bossanova a lot latey and I guess I have rediscovered it-not that i ever lost it. This album has just become as much fun to listen to while driving as doolitte ever was-am i getting older and more mellow? I think the harsh and urgency the pixies had on previous albums is not really present on boss-more lush melodies and just good vibes are all over that album-my pick of the week. If they wanted to record a semi-surf rock album-I would be happy! |
