nothing new, but they do mention this site.....

Pixies Back In The Saddle Again
This monkey's gone to Houston
[Posted Thursday, February 5th, 2004 04:00:00 Pitchfork Central Time]

Will Bryant reports:
The reunited Pixies will tour the U.S. for approximately two weeks in April leading up to the band's appearance at the Coachella Festival on May 1st, according to reports from Billboard and Rolling Stone. Though no dates have been formally announced (including which lucky city will host the first Pixies gig in more than a decade), the itinerary includes at eleven U.S. stops leading up to the Indio, CA festival with co-headliners Kraftwerk and Radiohead.

The Pixies will then tour Europe from May 28th through July 10th, both sources report. In an interesting reversal, two rumored dates opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers (June 12th in Dublin and June 15th in Paris) are actually happening, as originally speculated on (and denied) back in December.

A press release issued by the band yesterday and published by fansite FrankBlack.net confirms that the original lineup of Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago, and David Lovering are currently rehearsing for the tour.

Even more intriguing, Frank Black has scheduled an April release for a double-disc solo album on SpinART to be titled Frank Black Francis. Obviously, the use of psuedonyms spanning both ends of frontman Charles Thompson's musical career and the timing of the release have fans speculating recklessly about whether the new album contains any material recorded with, or about, his Pixies bandmates.

As previously reported, 4AD and Beggars Banquet also plan to release a new best-of compilation and self-titled DVD around the time of the reunion tour. Billboard reports that a preliminary cut of the new compilation contains 23 tracks and bears the working title Wave of Mutilation: Best of the Pixies.

Cool, glad they finally caught up and posted something, and gave us reference to boot. Except that I don't believe the announcement was 11 US dates, it was 11 dates prior to Coachella, some of which will be in Canada. I think Pitchfork is going to be shocked when they learn where the opening show is...

Heh, I only meant that they would be shocked because I think the first gig is (hopefully) going to be in Canada, although of course I don't know that for sure yet.

Thanks for keeping them up to date with the news, TBG. Not meaning to tease 'ya at all, I'm as excited and eager as everyone else for us to have some official confirmation to pass along.
