wonder if reunited Pixies will "cover" any Frank Black songs?
Headache, LA, All My Ghosts, Manitoba might be nice with Joey, Kim and David on guitar, bass, drums respectively. |

I'd bet you a song or two from Frank Black ("Brackish Boy") and Pod might be played, but nothing other than that.

I find it hard imagining songs that F.B. did strictly as F.B., but there are songs that the Pixies tried that F.B. wound up doing. Hang On To Your Ego, etc. I'm sure there are others that should have been heard as the Pixies but never were. I'd like to think it's possible.

Hasn't Frank always said his songs are his songs - no matter what band he was in when he wrote them?
In that case, I don't think it's impossible for them to play the odd "Frank Black" song in the Pixies set. I like the idea of Thalassocracy.
Any idea when the UK dates will be published? |

Not a Catholics/Breeders song but...I'd love to hear Boom Chick-a-Boom by them Pixies.

If the Pixies were to play an FB song, it'd probably be early stuff which is A-OK with me. I'd love to see them do something like Brackish Boy. But as far as cool songs for the four of them to belt out regardless, Headache'd be pretty cool with Kim singing too, So. Bay, Manitoba, Velvety, Hate Me, and a rocked-up Le Cigar Volante.
I doubt heavily they'll play any stuff from their solo work though. Unlikely Pixies songs/covers I'd love to hear would include Boom Chicka Boom, Evil Hearted You, Into The White, I Can't Forget, The Big Hurt, and of course all the classics as well as stuff from their new album (which I don't believe will happen, but what a way to surprise us it would be if they burst into a song or two from "Nous Trompe Vous", my tentative and really horribly (i.e. not at all) conjugated title for Pixies V).
I hope they rope EDF into this, really. I really, really do. They'll be making more than enough to pay him and I just really want to hear him do the organs on songs like Gouge Away again.

yeah, i love the keyboarded version of gouge away - it would be awesome if they could pull it out on the tour. i personally think bullet would be an awesome pixies song...
i'd think you'd have pretty good odds of hearing into the white considering it was a regularly played in Pixies take 1.

I don't see why it would happen. The whole point of a Pixies reunion would seem to be to play Pixies songs.

Velvety probably has the best chance of getting into a set. In fact, the last time they played Milwaukee they opened with that. I'll go out on a limb and say 'Everything is New' might sneak in there.

Hahaha Brian, love the new sig. It actually feels balmy here now so you shall soon be seeing better weather in the east. It went from -40 yesterday to -21 today. I was going to wear shorts.
Oh, I also wanted to add that I'd love to see Velouria as the very first song they play. The lights off, those first chords, and then as it crescendos to the song itself, the lights come up and bam! The Pixies are back. Or Emeril.
Benji, yeah, I thought about Bullet being on the list too, particularly the version he did with Joey for Crime & Punishment.
Ramona, you make a good point, and I did say I don't expect to see/hear any of these, but think of it more along the lines of "what songs could be really cool if the Pixies did them when you saw them live" as opposed to "what songs WILL the Pixies play live".

now that would be a great beginning... wasn't there already a topic discussing such a question?

Yeah, I get it. I was actually just replying to the title of the topic which is "Pixies to play any FB&TC songs?" Ask that question and then read my reply and I think it all makes sense. If the topic was "what songs would be cool to hear live" then I would have had a different answer.

If you guys start taking bets on this, let me know so I can bet that they won't touch any FB-era, FB&C, or Breeders songs and win me some cash. |

I hope they don't play FB or Breeders songs.... they are not Pixies songs.. Just like when I see FB I'd prefer him to just play FB songs.

Wouldn't "Nous Trompe Vous" be grammatically incorrect? First of all, 'se tromper' is a reflexive verb, and Dean has no reflexive pronoun. Secondly, Dean made no effort regarding conjugation; the verb must correspond to the subject. Dean's subject is first person plural, but he conjugated 'se tromper' to correspond with third person singular. Normally, I'm not that muh of a stickler, but Dean seems to always write his posts with excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling. For this reason, I thought he might care. Also, I like to test my ability to speak French, for I may want to go there someday.

Heh, it is completely incorrect as I did not conjugate at all for the effect of the joke. I like to think of it as Simpsons-style French (like Bumblebeeman's Spanish) - gramatically horrific so that the English folks get it.
Plus I didn't really put a lot of effort into it. :)

Well, as a band, the Pixies are not as technically proficient as The Catholics. So that there limits which songs they could play if they wanted to. Unless they want to do a hack version, but that's not the Pixies' style.
But nah, why reunite to do anything other than Pixies stuff. At least for a while. As soon as that novelty wears off then bordom will ask for the introduction of other stuff.
