Today's random song of the day is I Will Run After You (BLD).
What do you think of it?
lyrics If you went away Called it all a day Say that it was through
''Cause a new man Or an old friend Or a guru
''Cause you got a bit tired of me now That I could believe Yeah but if you do
If you leave
Wouldn’t even cry Wouldn’t even try Wouldn’t even stew
Wouldn’t look for another love, no Listen if you leave Tell you what I do
If you leave
I will run after you

I like it cuz it's creepy.
Both versions, the SSMVGD one is creepier.
It's all sweet sounding and nice but then again...think about it as it's almost the simplest and most complete stalker song that "Every Breath You Take" by Stink wishes it could be.
Course, if you wanna look at it as sweet:
"If you leave, I will run after you"
You can, but I like the:
"If you leave....I will run after you (then I will keep you in my clutches forever)" version.
Bottom line=Love it. |

Great, simple song, but the SSMVGD version is even better IMO.
Btw, the second half of BLD is awesome. |

I love both versions of this song. It's great to play on acoustic guitar.

my favorite fb song. i just love how it keeps picking up steam, when the drum comes in, and franks vocals. and then the final two minutes, the song comes to complete stop with just frank singing, and then builds back up, i would listen to this on my mp3 player while running and find myself unconciously sprintiung at the end. as for the two versions, im going to pick the version not on bld, i just love that organ or what ever the hell it is in the song, i have no idea, but it just gives the song a little extra kick, but i love the first chords of the acoustic version. and i dont think its a creepy song, i never interpreted like that |

Anyone but me a fan of the FB and Dave version from the Craig Kilborn show?
I had it downloaded for awhile and it was a great version/performance of it IMO |

Dallas: That would be Cold Heart Of Stone
The SSMVGD version is superior...much more emotionally gripping. The BLD version sounds kinda, I dunno...tired and added in as an afterthought.

That's right Barto. My mistake. Great performance though. I lost the PC that had that download and a whole lot more to housefire a year ago. My how the memory goes... |

I like SSMVGD one better too, I don't like the backing vocals on the BLD one as much... |

He had to use "guru" because he had trouble finding a good rhyme for "svengali". |

I dunno, I have never liked this song and am not impressed with the SSMVGD version either..... This is probably one of the very few Frank songs that I'd say is bad. It's alright until Frank repetitively sings 'I will run after you' in a high voice. That bit gets on my wick.

This song reminds me a lot of Beck, back when he did great albums. The backing vocals at the end of the SSMVGD version sound like the ones Beck used on songs like I Get Lonesome.

Oh yeah, 'One Foot in the Grave'... Great (but little-known) album.
Btw, I learned recently that Frank counts Beck among his major influences. Not so surprising.
