As far as I know, the Breeders are preparing their next album and Kim Deal don't give a f*** about the Pixies thing.
Btw, Noaloha, the quasi official Breeders website, points out that '4AD has not released any official word of the reunion, and nobody seems to know which of the original members will be present'.

I don't think it would either, but until something official comes out, it'd be a bit stupid to announce it :) wouldn't it....
it was bad enough the amount of calls and emails we got here when the XFM thing happened last year! (which is why we put up the news item saying "stop bugging us!") heheh |

I want to know why Frank is keeping quiet, why doesn't someone come out and make it official as Coachella is in the not too distant future and I am waiting for the official word before making my final decision. However if Kim is not playing then I reckon I'll miss it as it isn't really the real thing if you ask me.

Frog, if there was something official to hear, I'm sure we'd've heard it here too (hear here). But, as you can see in the news, we haven't. It's likely that nothing has been signed yet.

That's what I was trying to say. :) The only reason I can think of for us not having heard anything official is that they've not signed anything yet. Perhaps concert organizers are simply gauging the reaction to determine how much the Pixies are worth and only initial talks have happened. Perhaps there have been no talks at all and it's a joke/gimmick. Perhaps it's all signed and set and they have some other reason for keeping quiet (like they signed an NDA or something) I can't see why they wouldn't want the Pixies commenting on their presence at the show. Can only help business.

I agree, if the Coachella gig goes ahead and Kim doesn't play then I am not going to bother heading out to LA for it.... I'm not the biggest Kim fan either, but she was a major part of Pixies and it wouldn't be the same without her.

Yeah, I cannot see why they wouldn't want the Pixies commenting either... Surely it cannot be a gimmick or a joke, but it is confusing and a little frustrating having to wait to get the official word. Something must be happening, if nothing comes out of this then there will be alot of pissed off fans.

Yeah-gettin a wee bit old-beginning to wonder if the flaming lips wrote "ego tripping at the gates of hell" about the pixies. If this turns out to be a big fat joke, and none of them have come forward and said anything-then they can release -"death to the pixies(redux-for real this time) box set-cause in my opinion its just ridiculous that nothing has been said and only speculated. Also, 4AD posted stop buggin us -ok how about stop buying your labels releases and then noone will bother you again for anything!I have admired the label for years for the quality music and bands they so carefully pick-but good lord-the pixies and 4ad are like peanut butter and jelly-the pixies turned me on to that label-and now i am sittin here wishin on a cement floor-just wishin that i had an answer already!

two things:
1)The 'DIY Convention' thread says that Frank is intending to make a big announcement regarding his plans this year in his keynote address there. If this isnt the Pixies announcement, I'll eat my hat. I dont know why he's waiting until then, but there you go.
2)I cant conceive of Frank waiting all this time to reform and then turning around and doing it without Kim. He may as well just bring out the Catholics and play only Pixies songs. Frank's got more class than that, I think.

About the DIY convention, I don't see why it could be the place to announce a reunion, it would be off-topic. Maybe announcing something surprising in a 'DIY' way for music business is to say that he'll never sell records anymore but earn his money with touring, while delivering for free his new songs via P2P or selling them only with i-tunes (that would be a BAD idea for eurofans). Considering he's released his latest work in such a short time and that he don't make albums but songs (he said that), that's something possible.

| Yeah, I've thought that too, darwin. For a while now I've thought there'll be at least one of the other Pixies at the DIY appearance, but they'll all most likely be there. It's the only thing that makes sense. |
