Today's random song of the day is Every Time I Go Around Here.

What do you think of it?

lyrics

Every time I go around here
I see tumbles

Gone is the Regal automobile
And ever since I''m down
I''m down
We used to ride in it
In this frozen town

Any time we had in the time we had
We found
We found
In some frozen place
Parked half off the ground

Every time I go around here
I see tumbles
Through my head and the glass cleared
And the motor rumbled

I dont know if its good that they did make the wheel
But ever since I know
I know
Ive been rolling on
Rolling on to you

Any time we have in the time we have
Well go
We go
To that frozen place
Frozen place that we knew

Every time I go around here
I see tumbles
Through my head and the glass cleared
And the motor rumbled

It took me many listens to appreciate this song. Even now I must say I like the lyrics more than the music.

Great song. It only sounds right to me in the context of the album, sandwiched between Adda Lee and Don't Ya Rile 'Em.

This one, for some reason, reminds me more than any other of the time the first FB album came out and all the time I spent listening to it.

I love the intro to "Every Time I Go Around Here". It's one of the few songs on the 1993 FB album with an accoustic guitar that actually sounds like an accoustic guitar. I could be wrong, but I think the guitar on "I Heard Ramona Sing" or something like that has gone through so much editing and proccessing that I doesn't even sound like a real, hollow-bodied accoustic. AMybe it's not supposed to. I don't know.

Does anyone know what this song is about? It sounds like it could be about a car crash, or something of the sort.

I picture it being a return to Earth after we are long gone. Visiting towns frozen in time (as opposed to literally). Or maybe visiting old western ghost towns now. The tumble(weed?)s, the idea that maybe it was the automobile that played a part in their extinction.

But I have no clue officially.

I've always thought it was looking back at his youth. Possibly nostalgia for a family Regal (Buick) he used to drive with his friends, or girlfriend...seeing tumbles (stupid things we do as kids with friends...or in relationships?) I think it's about remembering those high school days..when a car meant everything...freedom, independance etc.
I suppose the tumbles could be literal for an accident as well. A car flipping. Maybe someone close to him(or the character) passed in an accident and he comes back to the area either to pay respects often or it's someplace he frequently passes and it brings back the memories.
I always prefer to view the song as the former...it's more positive to me to look at it as Nostalgia for your youth. Most all of us have our "first car" memories.
Frank it has been said likes to drive...even while on tour from town to town..if not now, that he used to like to do it.
