Any suggestions? I get like 10 pop-ups every 5 seconds and none of the pop-up blockers I've tried really work.

I use the Google Toolbar. Blocks popups and has some other extra cool features like, obviously, searching Google right up top, highlighting words on a page, searching for words on a page or on a website, auto form-fill-in. Really good stuff.

I highly reccomend downloading avant browser, it blocks popups just as well as the toolbar, and it's got tabs so you can have more than one browser window open, you can minimize to tray, have it open to the page you were reading last after closing it, and do all kinds of awesome stuff like that.

Opera browser has had the ability to block unrequested pop-ups for years. Mozilla also added this feature more recently. Just get away from IE if you are a Windows user.

I went with the Google toolbar too. I like it so far. My favorite part is the AutoFill b/c I have been applying to a million jobs and this fills in all those little boxes for you automatically - which is great.

I've been using the Google toolbar for 6 months and I'm 100% satisfied with it. |

I used Google until i found out they track every website you visit, and keep a file on you. Fuck that shit.
If you stick to surfing www.FrankBlack.net you should be pretty pop-up free. We discuss all the important stuff here anyway. |

I have an I Mac. I never haver had a pop up in my computer using history. Which is almost three years. Is this because I have a Mac? Or because I am not on Aol or something? |

The Google Toolbar allows you to not allow tracking when you install it, for all the Black Helicopter spotters out there.

Even on Macs you get pop ups. At least you do if you ever visit naughty web sites, like the drudgereport. |

Is that black helicopter following me...I think it is!? You won't believe how many "free" programs you download off the net track your browsing, and serve pop up ads...not to mention trojans and viruses you probably got from Kazaa... |

Internet Explorer has the ability to install this stuff via ActiveX. If your security settings are set low enough it won't even prompt you before installing. Yet another reason to switch to Opera or Mozilla. |

k, that's good to hear. Last time i installed it, they didn't ask and there were a number of stories on how Google was tracking everyone, and they basically said it was a part of the agreement.
Regardless, i have no plans of going back any time soon. |

Yeah, that's the reason I hadn't installed it for so long, but when I did install it, if I recall, it did give me the option to disable it.

yeah there's an "allow anonymous useage statistics" checkbox during install.
google toolbar rules. google rules. nuff said.
edit:
if you ever question whether google is the best thing to ever happen to the web, just try to remember what search engines were becoming before google. if you can't remember go to Yahoo!'s homepage sometime. |
