HI!
I was just wondering if anyone out there ever saw the gig on Late Show with Dave Letterman, i think it was in -92 where they performed planet of sound?...at least I think they played there but I might be mistaken about the song....and does anyone know if you somehow could download a clip or something...would have been cool to see that one!

Hopefully it will be on the Pixies DVD. But, somehow I doubt it.

That would be Letterman's old show on NBC "Late Night with David Letterman". Not his current "Late Show" on CBS.

It was Feb 6, 1992.

You can buy it on E-bay on one of those compilations people created with all the Dennis Miller stuff and the videos. It's cool. They play Trompe Le Monde with Paul Shaffer's band, but Kim is playing an acoustic guitar and Dave is just banging on a tambourine. Where the second verse usually comes in Paul Shaffer plays this extended organ solo. It's interesting and makes me believe that Paul Shaffer and his band were fans.

Just a minor correction on the last post there. Actually, Dave was playing the maraccas. And yeah, the rest is right. And it's very cool. There's some bitchin work done by Paul Shaffer and company. Very entertaining, and a little creepy. Joey's sporting pink, too.

Planet of Sound was done on Feb. 13th, 1992 on the Dennis Miller show but it aired on Feb. 14th. On the night of the 13th they preformed Head On and Olympus Mons, my brother attended both shows and comes out during Planet.

I have that tape from ebay. the recording on that sucks but it came with a live video that is excellent! The people that sell it were great to deal with. they sent me a live pixies cd with the two tapes as a bonus that is excellent as well. I checked to see if i could find them in my items won page on ebay but it has been over thirty days. Search ebay. Once again the tape your looking for has shity recording but worth it plus what comes with it is good stuff.
