A random question to settle.
Anyone have a Pixies/FB&Cs influenced tattoo...Like the Elvis Fans walking around with his face all over their bodys? As ive only ever seen Elvis or Kurt Cobain Tattoos for people.

You should...If you know they've/He's mad such an impact on your life, and thus always will.
I have 'the Pixies' and 'Where is my mind'...but i quite like tattoos, so it was obvious for me.

I asked this very same question on here last year sometime. I didn't receive any ideas that stood out enough to make me want to have them tattoo'd on my body forever. The problem with lyrics is that I don't relate to most of Frank's, they are too much like random thoughts not really relevent to my life (except maybe 'Hey', even though I take a different meaning from these). I love his lyrics, they are amazing but I think that lyrics can look a little cheesy on someone's body if they are not chosen carefully. Most people who see them won't know what the fuck they are or what they mean (or even care what they mean), and anyone who says that they don't give a shit what other people think when they choose a tattoo is probably lying!!! I'm not saying it's what they care about the most but in some small way they do. Tattoo's are a fashion statement after all, even if that's not the main reason you get one!!! I have two tattoos and I don't mind admitting that I got them 'cos I think they can look amazing if they are classy (not fucking cartoon characters) and in the right place (not your forehead). So obviously I want my Pixies one to look great too, as well as mean something to me personally. Maybe I just need to read all his lyrics again and see if anything jumps out at me this time 'cos I really want to get a Pixies related tattoo as my little way of consumating my love for them.
Anyway that's just my opinion and I know not everyone shares it 'cos I see people with The Tazmanian Devil or Mickey Mouse tattoo'd on them. |

Permanent fashion strikes me as a bad idea... what if I were frozen in my 1980s hair, spandex, and tiedye? Sure, I'd have brief bouts of coolness every 30 years or so, but in the meantime? Things go out of style and/or become less cool or relevant or important, unless you're stuck in a timewarp.
Just my take on it.

I'm gonna agree with you Dean. I know a certain somebody who has a big ugly skull dripping blood etc. He was the coolest kid in junior high but now... |

Good point Cult. As for blood dripping skulls, that sounds like pure cheese in any era!!!
Do you really think the Pixies will ever not be cool though? |

nah thats kinda dumb. The pixies aren't exactly fashionable. The point is though that you might not want any kinda tatoo at 50 years old. But if you do: My name is Chip I am differen or I don't conform!!! |

I don't think a tattoo would be a big deal if it was small and in a place easily covered...like your back or something.

i have a small trompe logo on my shoulderblade, like in my sig.
i dont think it matters whether it's in fashion or not, that's not the reason you'd get a tattoo...at least i hope it wouldn't be. i mean, you might buy a hat (i don't know why a hat, but hey...) that's in fashion just because, but anybody with sense wouldn't go permanently marking their body for fashion.

Perhaps not but you would definately give some thought to what other people would think. I love penguins but I wouldn't get a tattoo of one 'cos I know that people would laugh at me. |

I don't think so but I can't remember either. I have decided to go for a Vox amp I think. I have heard good things about them and besides Frank used them as well as Marshall. Hope I don't see another left-handed Jaguar after I get my amp though, then I would be really and |

Vox sounds like a good decision. I've never used one, but Frank uses one, and he sounds pretty good...so...you know.
Heh, that would be a shit wouldn't it. Hey, I'll sell you my one, what was that guy's reserve? £1000 or something?

I got the same Trompe logo tattoo just above my left ankle in '98. And I don't like the idea of tattoos as a fashion statement. It's just that they had such a profound impact on my life and changed virtually everything for me. For that, the least I could do would be to pay homage with something that will always remind me of my roots. Time won't change that impact, so it doesn't matter if it's not "fashionable" fifty years from now. Hell, it's not fashionable NOW. And I like the idea of nobody else knowing what the tattoo means. It's a "P" in a circle with lightning bolts. Nobody else really gets it. It's my little secret.

I was thinking of getting a Pixies tattoo. I actually have two tattoo's of Chinese characters on my left arm. They actually look quite cool as Chinese characters do, and in the UK people would tell me they looked good. But in China it is a different matter.... when I showed my class they all burst into laughter and told me it looked ridiculous. My wife has since told me that the handwriting looks as if it has been done by a child, which means that I never get my arms out in Beijing. It's weird how they look cool to westerners but over here it looks idiotic.

The Pixies tattoo i have is also the Trompe Le monde logo...As for a place easily covered, i suppose it could well be...its under my arm. 'Where is my mind' is going up the side of my body if y'understand. (I got 'Where is my mind' done for the relation to Fight Club aswell as the Pixies. That film is pritty special.)
I started this post as a chance to find if anyone in the world has a portrait of Frank tattooed?! Id F**kin love to see that!
