Yeah, but all that said was - "Billboard reports that Frank Black is currently preparing a new solo release for spring 2004 via SpinART" - this is slightly more information but still NOT ENOUGH!

I think this album contains the famous pre-Pixies demos + some new stuff (or re-recorded old stuff).
Maybe it's the source of the reunion rumors... |

| this might be a long shot, but it might also have something to do with 4ad issueing a new "best of" for the pixies. this could prove cooler than having the pixies have a tour if it includes rare stuff. or new recordings of old stuff. |

| Wasn't there a report a while back the canadian label Rounder was plannig an FB live release. He play's long shows. This new album could always be a live album titled "frank black francis" because he plays his entire career of songs in all his shows. It would be a little bit of a let down, since all the bootlegs that are available already, but it's a possiblity. Or it can be a Pearl Jam "lost dogs" esque release. |

| I know for sure that Frank was supposed to come back in the studio in December or January, but I don't know for what purpose exactly. At the time I got this info - early November -, I had just heard of the new Pixies best of, so I assumed (wrongly it turned out) that 4AD had asked Frank to add some new stuff to this compilation. Now I think the purpose of the recent recording session was to complete the mysterious double album. |

Double cd on April sounds more than good. It's so grazy that FB can publish such a great stuff always in such a little time, don't get me wrong - I love it.
I'd love it to be a completely new studio album, Pixies first demos are already published, so is b-side collection..
Live albums are usually not as good as studio ones, I think, and there are propably shitloads of bootlegs already, don't know about those. It could also be the iTunes-stuff properly released, that's something I'd really like to see. I wish for more news soonsoonsoon. |

I'd say pre-Pixies songs. Personally I can't imagine Frank re-recording Pixies songs.
I think this album features some old / previously unreleased stuff in both BF and FB versions. |

My first initial thought is maybe "Frank Black Francis" is an all acoustic album with Frank doing material from his entire catalog. That would be cool. I love when Frank does acoustic performances.
