I can't remember which thread it was in now, but the people who recommended ben lee, thank! listening to some of his stuff now, including away with the pixies! great stuff! sounds a bit like moldy peaches at times...

Yay! So glad you liked it. Yesterday I was listening to him on the train and realized I said my favorite CD by him was called Cigarettes Will Kill You but it's not. I'm dumb. It's actually called Breathing Tornados. The first song is Cigarettes. Anyway, I think he's a great songwriter for being so young - so I'm glad you checked him out.
(It was the Ben Kweller thread, btw)

speaking of the ben kweller thread, i have also interviewed ben lee - a very, very, very nice guy. good sense of humor, a lot of interesting things to say. check out the interview here:

Very cool - I like this part especially - "I've always admired someone like the Flaming Lips, who did their thing for years and years and eventually, have been noticed by the mainstream. I mean, if you're good at what you do, there is no way that you can escape people getting into it; sometimes it just takes a little longer."
So true! All the bubbles float to the top and the substance stays underneath - but we'll get there eventually.
