"The thing that I think all of us agree on about Albini's recording style, is that he records, not produces. Sometimes the vocals are too soft, maybe that is a tendancy he has in his mixes that is one thing I don't like."
Seems to me, when talking about loud rock music and recording, that the band is so very equally important to the mix as the vocals. I've read that that's where Albini's coming from with the mildly quiet vocals. In rock, guitars and drums bear more real weight than crooners. Pop music is different, Noel Gallagher should most definately be louder than his band. (snicker)

I hear this is the year when Oasis break through in America, cos a bunch of bands are now ripping them off (e.g. White Light Motorcade). All I can say is, you're welcome to them! We've been trying to foist the snotty little beggars off on someone since Be Here Now!

Oasis reached the peak of their popularity in America about five years ago or so, I'd guess. Their delusions of grandeur would be funny if they weren't so arrogant and insulting. And if their music didn't suck.
