One of my very fave songs from the 80s is One thing leads to another, by the Fixx, I think you could fit it in that category, or maybe not. But you brought up the 80s so....

Now I'm inspired to go change my sig to something from the 80s.

Interpol? I don't think I'd class them as electro-pop. They are great though.

Hmm... electro.....

Adult. is a band that is certainly much more electro than pop, but are enjoyable. Metric has moments of electropoppyness, though not in the same way as Ladytron. The Sounds are more electropunk, and a bit sophomoric, but a solid guilty pleasure (for me, at least).

Uh, s'more...
Stereolab
The Rapture
Junior Senior (not really electropop, but kinda. and fun.)
The Notwist
The Postal Service
Stars

That's all I can think of for the momment. Many of these bands are quite different from each other, and wouldn't really fit under the electropop banner, though I like them all. (Well, the Rapture doesn't really do it for me, though everyone gushes about their records).

This is less pop- but you would probably really enjoy:
edit: geez - I just realized, the only thing that could possibly be at all electro-pop is Orbital - hahah sorry! I hope it's still useful, though....:(

Muslimgauze
Rapoon
Orbital/Orb
Plaid
Boards of Canada
(the usual) Aphex Twin
Two LoneSwordsmen
Air Liquide
Controlled Bleeding
Noise Unit (or any other FLA (Front Line Assembly) spin-off)
Squarepusher
Merzbow
maybe even Legendary Pink Dots?

better yet - you may want to look up warprecords.com and cross-reference epitonic.com, but then again, this may all be redundant to you ;)

really dark tangent:
Tribes of Neurot, and Neurosis

really dark, super electronic - not at all 80s though - LFO - here is a link to a video, "Freak" http://www.warprecords.com/video.php?mvf_id=98

The Notwist is definitely the best of the above mentioned bands. I saw them live twice, they were just amazing, probably because they come from the rock scene. They started with some pretty obvious pop stuff, then started playing more noisy, it turned out to be like a Sonic Youth Concert, then played two straight punk rock songs, and then returned to their more "classical" songs. All that time Martin Gretschman was making some really weird sounds with his computer, live, and it was definitely one of the best shows I have ever seen, and certainly the best by far from an electro band.

By the way, I really like their spin-offs, like Console or Lali Puna...

hey, thanx everybody.many groups here i've never heard of.i like adult(though i haven't listened much of their stuff).i have a couple of legendary pink dots albums but i had always considered them a more goth\industrial group.always due to my goth period i discovered groups like front line assembly, front 242,throbbing gristle, skinny puppy but though i like them they are or too experimental or too metal or both.

groups i recently discovered and i like:

dopplereffekt
little computer people
mantronix

ps:apl i'll check this link out.i love being redundant.i even tried checking artistsdirect.com but they don't have much electro stuff.

Ladytron are really cool, as is Cornelius for mixin it up. Boards of Canada are amazing, music for when we're live on the moon. Scnheider TM is cool, and I'm going to have say Bjork is pretty brillant as well, although I think she has'nt got alot of fans on this forum. Add N to X have great late night videos and a mention for Nightmares on Wax even though thier not really electronica. Alot of what everyone else has mentioned are really cool, Plaid, Aphex and the rest.

I dont know if this is an evil trap but that film made me cry. I have say that Bjork's accent really confused me, but it was very touching all the same, especially when she makes music out of the noise coming from the vents while she's awaiting her execuition ( I just gave the whole film away, but thats what made it for me, the happy court scene dance before the horrible reality). I have to give a mention to the Kings of Conviense remix ablum, Versus (if I still had it I could tell you all the cool people who remixed it, but my friends keep nicking it on me), and Rosyksopp, with the brillant talant of of Eriend Oye, class!

What do you think of Kraktwerks Tour de France stuff, it's good but thier showing thier age? Are Devo electronica? I thought they were more new wavy? Oh Suicide should be up there as well, I'd like to put Chrome in as well for thier guitar sampling fuckedupness, and Claw with Yoko Ono!

Nope - it weren't an evil trap, and it made me cry too. It was one of the most emotionally provocative movies I have ever seen - and that's sayin something, because I don't cry at the usual tear-jerkers. I agree that the point right before the finale was the most riveting, but the whole movie really got me.

Tubeway Army and Kraftwerk - here here! plum forgot about them....

Yeah, she seems to inspire a love/hate/apathy response. Even among some fans. Admittedly, you may have to be in a certain mood to enjoy...also, I'm not sure how important it is to have started listening along with the career of the Sugarcubes - I tried listening to Vespertine while working the other day, and it just didn't jive. I have to be in the right mood. When I am, it is soaring and achingly beautiful and utterly unique. Otherwise, it gets on my freakin nerves. It's safe to say that especially if you are in a punk mood, you will want to jump up and down on her head til it pops.

I only like "Debut", from Björk. I think her later music is really overrated, like Radiohead.

exactly.it seems that you can love her or hate her.i remember i got a tape of "debut" when it came out and i listened to it for a while (mainly because it was new and i wanted to brag about something cool and underground due to my childish indie attitude)but it never grew into me.on the contrary it still strikes me as another useless experiment of the 90's.i wouldn't have bet one dollar on bjork back at the time but then came the hype and the rest is history.i never listened seriously to her stuff since so i suppose i may have lost something there.
