Okay. This is easy as cake and it won't fail. It's going to be a CDR but oh well, "do it yourself." The sound quality should be good, and all cds will be hand crafted and designed by myself and my artist friend, who designs my cds (of which I am recording a new one with the Pavement guy again, due out Dec. 27th)
All I need is an mp3 from anyone who wants to submit, and I'll convert to wav. etc. In order to do this, I will use MSN.messenger, so email me at bankyedwards1976@hotmail.com to set up an appointment for file transfer, and include somewhere in the heading the title of this post. I perfer high speed connectin only, so if you don't have it, burn your shit onto a disk and go to a friend's house and send it to me from there. When we transfer the mp3, I'll get all your info.
I want to get 10-20 people to submit. If I make 50 cds it should cost about 200$ so I could sell them for 10$ peice, plus exact shipping. In which case a profit of $300 should be made. Probably half for me and my friends for assembling, the other half to be divided ammong those who have submitted and to proprieters of frankblack.net THOMAS< MDISIANTO etc... if that's cool with you?
So we have plenty of people to submit... start submitting as soon as possible because it is going to take me awhile to hand craft a bunch of CDs...

Hey, why not keep a list of who's contributing what here too? Edit your first post, and keep updating that one with the current info/news. =)
I'm still planning on doing Jesus Was Right.
Selling them does seem a little weird, at least for profit. |

you could just release the mp3s and burn copies per need, probably be a lot cheaper, since it seems the only reason youd sell them is to recoup the cost of burning them when they dont need to be burned by you

i was thinking of us doing our originals... selling them to pay for cdrs, cases, paper, ink, and time etc...
i guess we could do covers, but then we would have to have permission...
editing the orignal post is a good idea too, i was thinking of that too..

Why bother selling official cds? Why not just make an mp3 compilation and post it on the ftp site. If quality is a concern, then give instructions on how to convert them into a wave file cd. We can post the art ourselves and then there is zero cost and zero price. This would be optimal in my opinion.

I guess this is entirely different than the Frank Black covers album that's been kicked around the AP and sort of leaked to the fb.net board for a while...hmm.

yeah, it would be a lot less of a hassle just to add our stuff to the FTP site... of which I haven't been able to get it to work.
If we do all covers of Frank and we don't sell anything, then there is no need to worry about copyright or anything either.
I don't really care. It would be a lot more of an investment and committment to make actual CDs, and apparently not really worth it to anyone.
I open to any ideas. |

I like the idea of FTP space somewhere for our originals, with a minimum bitrate standard (192-320K somewhere) so we can make our own cds if we want. Maybe we could send one to Frank at some point.
