I have never read this forum (and it has probably already been discussed and thrown out), but having been trained by American schools to find symbolism in every book ever written, did anyone ever relate "Pray for the Girls" to 911? I could swear that I downloaded it off Napster (way before 9/11/2001). running in the streets... leapfrogging salmon upstream (people running uptown)...sky was dark...could not see...drew a line we could not move our beaks (people trapped in the centers like chickens in a pen)... war is over (and we have no peace)... beams (of light)...monkey in a turban...mayor...pray for the girls (repressed in the middle east and whom could be the key to peace)...we searched behind the sun (on the other side of the planet)... a funny place to find someone...we did not find them on the moon (them:Taliban moon:desert of afghanistan)...we dreamed that's where they disappeared...we dreamed perhaps another Pearl (another Pearl Harbor)... or dangling on some other dune... but darker dreams we fear... where'd you go this time girls????????????? then the cartoon says "my town, my beautiful town"... Pretty eery prediction, couldn't have written it better AFTER 9/11... |

also thanks to schools we learn to make anything we find fit, not matter how obscure. there are some coicidences that are interesting as you pointed out but it seems pretty unlikely that frank is some prophet returning from the future. although it would be funny if i traveled back to say the thirties and released all of the beatles songs before they did under my name.

In case anyone was interested this how this song came about.
Below is a cut and paste quote from Craig McCracken (who is a member of this forum). He is the creator of the Powerpuff Girls.
quote: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well first off Frank was on the TOP of my list WAY ahead of everyone else I wanted for the album, so I was totally blown away when he said yes. Basicly it was pretty simple, I got his phone number, and after nervously pacing around for awhile ( I mean you can understand, I'd been a huge fan of this guy for over 10 years and here I am about to call him at home) So I get up the courage and call him. He answers, we talk about the show and said he was familiar with it but he would set his Tivo to record it anyway. And Basicly I said the song was to be from the perspective of the citizens of Townsville and the theme was "The City in Danger." I also said I wanted something with a lot of energy and I asked him to think "Bad Wicked World"
He took some notes, we talked about Tivo and how it was currently recording Kids in the Hall. He put me on the guest list for that nights show. I thanked him for his music and what a creative inspiration he was to me. And that was pretty much it.
All in all he was a really cool and friendly guy.
A few weeks later Frank calls me and tells me they just finished the track and they were all really happy with it and that I'd be getting a tape in a few days.
couple a days later I get the tape of "Pray for the Girls" and it just so happened it was my Birthday. I couldn't have asked for a better present, A song by my musical hero about my own show.
how cool is that?

That is unreal. Thank you Craig for the info and story. You are one lucky man. And as far as the premonitions......I believe.
Strummer-man I had me a vision!
I bid a good-day to you sir! |

9/11 meanings in 'pray for the girls' .....interesting co-incidence, but seems we know how and why it was written that's all it is..... does put nostradamus into perspective though.......
