The 'Official Word™' messages are exactly that - an Official Word from a representative of the band.

'the band' meaning 'the catholics'? Or would that be too much information to divulge?

Come on peoples. Don't you study your Frank Black interviews and press releases. It's obvious the "official word" text was written by him. It's also pretty obvious that there's a good chance of the pixies reuniting otherwise Frank would have no reason to post the aforementioned. Fun and games and sarcasm are one thing (which I suspected with the initial VH1 rumor) but Frank would never carry it out this far. I interpret the "official word" post to mean that things look very good for a reunion to happen but the deal is not yet 100% sealed.

a gwar-type joke blues-rock band....very much like Green Jello/Jelly. Which might cause problems as Jam and Jelly are very similar

thanks for the news dave. i'm thinking dave, the nice canadian he is, wouldn't be pulling our leg.

very interesting message. not quite sure what it means. maybe we can have the song oracle post the message and have people try and interpret it. i'm thinking goodyear blimp = big record company, giant pig = rich corporate executives. so i'm betting that we'll see pink floyd reunite in the coming year.

Adrian - i do not know if there will be a reunion concert or not.

IceCream - good point - correction should be 'FB' not the band. Props for being so observant.

Bart - i wouldn't be surprised if FB had a part in the writing.

Mike - woohoo!! Tho i'm happy with Roger Waters' solo stuff. =)

so, when is this second message expected?

you know, when i first got into the pixies less than two years ago now, i SOMEHOW had this feeling that it was a good time to get into them, like something special was gonna happen soon. i don't know why. then, shortly afterwards, i heard about the DVD and i thought that was it... now i have the feeling that's not all!

Keyboard player Rick Wright had some good solo work, too. He is often not thought of by casual Pink Floyd fans, but he contributed a ton in the begining and he wrote all the music to the song "Us and Them". And have you heard “Paintbox?” Aw man, the chord changes in that song are just so satisfying that I have it as my new signature.

Never got into to Water's solo stuff, but The Final Cut is practically a Waters solo album with the Pink Floyd as session musicians, and some parts are pretty boring and not diverse, imo. So I'd take Barrett over Waters.

Haven't listened to the cut in about 3 years, though.

Sorry to revive such an old topic, but I just gotta say that I spotted that pic in an ad in an old issue of Creative Review.
