Many years ago I heard this song on a Pixies bootleg. I recall that it had a section, the intro maybe, in which Charles sang a capella with only the drums backing him (similar to "I've Been Tired"), and there was a line that went "Boom chick a rocka chicka rocka chicka boom". I don't remember that it was particularly lo-fi. Many years later, I attempted to download the song off Napster, and it bore no resemblance to the song in my memory, and I didn't even sound like the Pixies. It sounded like some band's no-fi rehearsal tape. I tried to download it many times from many people and it was always the same, the fake one.
Am I crazy? Has anybody heard the first one I mentioned? Did I dream it or make it up?

| well maybe your memory serves you wrong. the version i have is bad quality and sounds like the pixies. just cause its different doesnt make it fake. they could be different recordings.. that is possible u know |

Yeah, isn't there atleast two versions of it? (I might be wrong but I think I've heard people talk about 3...)
One is the one with some college radio interview first atleast... I too have only found it in crappy quality... |

Where can I get the WERS Studio version? I've been wanting this one for months. The most common version that's floating around is The Fallout Shelter version which is very low quality...and I believe it's also sped up, making it sound like FB on helium.

i remember that line from dumb songs they made us sing at daycare or summercamp back when i was a young'un.
but yeah, it's a kick ass song.. hopefully it'll see official release someday. The WERS version is where it's at. |

when the WERS shows surfaced months ago I attempted to contact Dave about uploading these to the ftp cause as they are a radio show, they are allowed under the ftp rules, but i never heard back......
now they have circulated pretty well in trades, but these should be ftp'd cause they really are fantastic recordings and really as many people as possible should hear them....

i remember listening to it one day and my mum was like "hey we were singing that at school today" (she's a teachers assistant, she's not still at school before anyone says), and yes, it's a 'kids' (although could be a very old folk song or something) song, the boom-chick-a-boom bit is anyway.
