Can and will anyone recommend some drum machines for me to look into? I have an Alesis SR 16 and I'm not very happy with it, sound wise the samples tend to lean more towards techno and less realistic sounding drums, and while I want those sounds too, I'd like to have some good realistic sounds. Also most of the samples have reverb on them which is annoying because sometimes I don't want reverb and if I did I could put that on the track later if I wanted.
Thanks jimmy |

try leafdrums. search leafdrums on google...its a free download and even though it says its only a 30 day demo, you can use it as long as you want. |

Holy cow! This is really great. Up to now, I'd been stacking samples using Cool Edit Pro but leafDrums seems much easier to use...very intuitive. Yummy!!

Wow, that is pretty cool. I've been using FruityLoops + Drumagog for mine, hehe.

speaking of which, how can I get my hands on a copy? I keep reading mentions of it all over the board (I wish I"d been a member in time to be involved)

I have been looking for drumagog for quite awhile.. it looks pretty cool. I use fruityloops now but, in the past have used a korg er-1 and a korg es-1. I'm thinking of getting rid of em. It's a pain in the ass creating drum tracks with them but fun to just tool around with. The first software program I used for drums was leafdrums and it served it's purpose. The new version didn't do much for me though.

Fruity Loops is highly underrated. I think most use it for dancemusic, but it is a brilliant little sequencer when it comes to functionality. I usually convert good sampled kits (akai) to soundfonts and load them directly into fruity loops. If you need individual fx controll of the different drums, just split up the soundfont in awave or cdextract. When you have a basic drum track, just plug it in in a vst-sequencer and do your guitars and vocals there. Uh! I've used Kontakt and Halion, but if i can get that kit into a soundfont, there is no reason to go via such samplers. |
