I've often heard that Frank intended on covering a Husker Du song for the first album. To my knowledge he hasn't ever covered one. I was wondering what everyone would like to hear/think he should do.
I think he could do a real good Pink Turns Blue. As for what I'd like to hear, Eight Miles High or Crystal would be brilliant. |

Hmmm...I don't really know what I could envision Frank covering in this stage of his career by the Huskers. If we were back in the early phase of his solo career or back in the Pixies era (especially the Pixies era), I could name off a list a mile long.....
I could sorta envision "Terms of Psychic Warfare" being done with some steel pedal. "Games" could possibly be done in a sort of "21 Reasons" kind of way. I could definitely hear the band doing "Hardly Getting Over It". There are several selections off of the Warehouse release that I could envision The Catholics playing, namely "Ice Cold Ice", "Could You Be the One", "Bed of Nails", and maybe "Standing in the Rain". |

Books About UFOS, without a doubt. A Grant Hart song if I'm not mistaken, but a cover of this would not have been out of place on Devil's Workshop. I know FB is probably trying to move away from that kind of subject matter, sick of critics' overgeneralization, but he's always plowed his own furrow regardless. Yes, Books About Ufos. |

I'd love to hear Frank fire up some Husker. I miss the shit out of that band. I think he'd be good doing "She Floated Away" or "Flexible Flyer", both Grant Hart tunes. That would be too good.--Jayhawk |

The perfect starting point IMO would be Zen Arcade. That album (actually double-length album) is a classic among classics. After Zen, work your way up. Avoid Land Speed Record (which is pre-Zen anyways). I would only recommend it to Husker completists. Some of the pre-Zen stuff is good and recommended, but I would definitely start with Zen and go foreward, then if you find yourself really into the band, go for Metal Circus and Everything Falls Apart.
As for post Husker stuff, definitely pick up Sugar's "Beaster" EP. And if you're into acoustic oriented stuff, Bob Mould's "Workbook" is very worthwhile. |

Is it pretty much common knowledge that the song "A Good Idea" from Sugar's Copper Blue is Mould's tribute to the Pixies? If it ain't a tribute then it's a ripoff - a daring daylight heist. Go ahead, listen to it again unbelievers!

Yes, I believe it's common knowledge, Bob Mould has acknowledged it as an homage |
