Not a big fan of this one, although it sounds quite good in concert.

IMHO it's simply the worst song of Frank's worst album. |

Great tune, for sheer tempo, heard them play it live in Dublin and it immediatley got the crowd interested. Lyrics rock too,I''d like to hear some Chubby Checker Crush my heart with Desmond Dekker Little itty bitty of Freddy Fender Start me up, return to sender.
It does what it says. R+R to the maximum. |

I never really liked this one 'till I heard it live. I love it now. It's just chock full of energetic goodness. Too bad they weren't recording live to 2 when they put this one out, it seems well suited.

Definitely shines live. I thought it was OK on the album version. Live version kicks ass. |

Decent song made exponentially better by using the word enthymeme. Definitely gets the rock on live as others have testified. |

Wow, how the hell did it come out to be "car damage"? That's what's in the song DB...my mistake! I'll have to fix that.
This song isn't great until you see it live...then you'll understand its greatness.

I echo many, apparently, in saying that I wasn't mad about this song until I saw them do it live. Then it suddenly made sense.

I thought it was...or is this one of the songs that had an edit?

I remember reading Frank say that he initially thought this song might be a little too corny, but i think his wife liked it.
I like it, too. Every good classic rocker needs an "i want rock n roll"/"just gimme some rock n roll music" anthem. Chuck Berry had one, The Who had one, the Stones, AC/DC. Love this song. |

To say "I don't like" one of Frank's songs wouldn't be accurate. There are certain tunes that only appeal to me some of the time (I guess its MY mood dependent). Then there are some (like Speedy Marie and MANY, make that MOST, others) that I love all the time. This tune falls in the first category.
But when I'm in a louder mood it absolutely rocks. I've never had the privelege of hearing it live.
Love in the chorus when his pitch rises at the end and it almost sounds like a question, "I want rock n roll?" Above all...the guitars! |

You're all rock traitors. This song kills!!! One of my favorites. I think it's a seriously wonderful display of Frank's skills, seeing as how it's got such a run of the mill chord progression to it, and yet still has such insane flair.
I want rock and roll makes me wacky stupid crazy. Love it, love it.

indeed, took me a while to get into that album, but i want to rock n' roll got me straight away, loved it from the word go and never looked back! Didn't need to hear it live to appriciate it! Maybe we just have more sophisticated taste?
