Rock or "other stuff"....I think I understand the question. The thing is, that's not how my favorites segregate out when I'm trying to rank Frank's stuff. (Although I do love that stuff...."I like distortion...when I bar chord. A lonely parking lot, when I ride my....board...[insert icon for amazing guitar nirvana for a few seconds]...)

But my point. The things I've always loved was the Science Fiction! TOTY is full of it. Trompe le Monde. Geez, The Happening, Motorway to Roswell, ,Men in Black, Billy Radcliffe. Obviously I could list a ton more. I dig the "epic mythology" songs, too. Like St Francis Dam Disaster. That's not particularly a RAWK song, but its amazing. If I were ordering a new album made to specs....I'd order me up a big ole plate of scifi and myth. Fill in the songwriting appropriate to the topics. I have to admit to being a little disappointed when I hear a song that's just about being in a drunken stupor, or about some girl that left, etc. Unless she left for Mars, then...you know....that's OK. "They got one leaving today."

But even better than a made to request album would be for Frank to do what he's always done and come back with something I would never have suspected. Create some new sounds or combinations of tone that would not have entered my mind. How can you request what you can't conceive of? In other words...I guess I'd rather trust the guy to follow his instincts. They've never led astray.

how about we all judge Frank (not that we deserve to) on the songs we like (cos everyone can pick out a bundle, nay, a multitude of songs that they love) instead of talking about what we hate or what he should/shouldn't do next.

Anyway, it all kicks ass

Steak n Sabre,
Did he really use a SLO-100 (I think that's the correct model designation). Or were you just getting my hopes up for a return to form?

Am I the only one here that wants to hear more of the accordian (like in Manitoba)? Frank should just get rid of Gilbert and Phillips and put that accordian player up front and center in all the songs from here on out.

It's a tough call, well actually its not cos i have no say in the matter! But to be honest I like the variation. Songs like Whisperering Weeds, Jet Black River, Coastline, Manitoba, Chip Away Boy et al have a special place as do I Think Im Starting to Lose It, Bad Harmony, Nadine etc...so whatever Frank does id be happy. Hearing the songs live gave me a whole different meaning or dimension to them, being pretty much right at the front with 2000 screaming fans in Glasgow a couple of months back, with the band breaking into Velvety was astounding - the whole place moved! Jane the queen of love was also fantastic. It was a totally rocking gig, with the likes of I want rock & roll, hermaphroditos, nadine (in which rich - doing what can only be described as mental - got a mystified look from Frank!), even Caribou, Velouria, All My Ghosts, Headache, massif centrale and Beautiful Day (which even though some say is a "country" song, in my book its rock). After taking a boot to the head from some guy riding the crowd, i was quite pleased to have new house of the pope and my favourite kiss! If Frank and the boys had continued to belt them out like that id be one black n' blue boy! But it was an awesome gig, really, they could have incited a riot if they wanted! It makes all the songs more special to me having heard some of the new ones live. Cheers el Jefe!

The AC-30s are great. They scream.

I'd like the next album to be a rock album. And I'd also like an album of all covers, then I'd like another rock album.

Alt-Country? I always felt it was more Western Rock. Definitely more Californian than Nashville.

It is true that FB&C's rock much harder live than they do on album. Nothing wrong with that, though.

I'd love to see Eric Drew Feldman back as a producer. Maybe to contribute some of his signiture "textures" into what the Catholics have been doing.
