aaah...god damnit...we had the whole hostage situation at case-western just this year, too...but this seems really familiar to some shootings we had here in my town...there were 2 guys with ak-47's shooting at cars as they drove by. one person was hit and almost killed...blah...this is so fucked up.. |

Yeah, I live in Columbus. I listen to the radio all day, but when my husband and I left town to visit family, I didn't hear anything about this until we were on our way back. We drove right through 270 south and I ducked, laughing, and held up our large hard-case cd book in order to "shield" him from any bullets as he was driving. Felt like a scene in Blues Brothers.
This stuff is seriously whacked. They are going to close that section of the highway from 5-7 PM tomorrow to scour the place. Finally. |

I live in Columbus. We drove in from family holiday crap through the South 270/71 interchange the day after the story hit the AP wire. Basically someone is taking potshots at random vehicles in the vicinity of that interchange, as well as a house nearby and a school at 1:30 in the morning. Whoever it is, they are apparently a very bad shot. There have been reports of kids with rifles on overpasses, stray hunter fire, and other such noise, but no real leads yet. They are closing the entire south stretch of I270 tomorrow for two hours to sweep for evidence.
To your question, Toti, life here day to day is actually very pastoral here. Good schools, tree-lined manufactured suburbs, etc. Downtown can be a little sketchy, like any medium to large city.
Nobody at work talks about this, but then I discovered that the outlying town the office is in (Westerville) is the highest concentration per capita of Zoloft prescriptions, and 96% of them work where I do...no suprise really.

Seems like there are a lot of Ohio related folks here. Very strange. FB appeals to the midwestern oddball with slightly higher ratios?

I drive through Ohio between PA and MI...it's the most boring state ever. The state troopers are apparently some of the worst in the country, so I am very careful and watchful when I drive 90 mph down the turnpike.

Yeah, El Barto - you've got the gist of Ohio, I think....;)
So they've already closed 23 miles of I-270 (at 4PM) and they are saying now that they aren't sure when it will be open again. Cripes. So if you have plans to drive through Columbus, you might as well just stay on I-70 and go straight through. Man, they really are doing this in a smooth and orderly fashion...
