it makes me laugh; she went online to see what the hell all the stuff i was listening to was about and she was like "the pixies are all about sex and drugs" ..but i suppose thats what she wanted to see; so its not like she would take any of the lyrics as brilliance... ::sigh:: she was like "i've never heard of them; no wonder they never got famous; they're song are too inconsistant" ugh. mainstream music junkies grr..
-does anyone else find it strange that SOOOO many bands got their inspiration from the pixies, and some ended up being "more famous"?

THAT'S HOW IT USUALLY IS.....ELVIS DID THE SAME THING WITH BOTH COUNTRY AND BLUES.....ALL THE POP-PUNK BANDS HAVE DONE IT......IT'S ALL A MATTER OF POLISHING SOMETHING TO MAKE IT APPEAL TO THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR (I.E. DUMBING IT DOWN) WHICH THE PIXIES, THOUGH INCREDIBLY CATCHY, NEVER DID BECAUSE THEIR LYRICS WERE SO OFFBEAT

No one's trying to cut you down, but obviously even you'd agree that reading this part is much easier than the preceeding "paragraph". So it is with all caps. Saying that it isn't as annoying as someone posting without spaces is irrelevant as:
a) Aside from what I wrote above, I've yet to see someone post without spaces.
b) It's still annoying - no it's not the most annoying thing, but I could easily argue in the same way that writing with no spaces (above) is less annoying then writing gibberish and expecting you to understand it.

Correction, the problem with the first paragraph was that it was annoying to read for everyone else: whether that annoyance is caused by a lack of space or a lack of desire to turn off the caps is irrelevant.
However, I do realize the extreme difficulty in using smaller letters and wholly understand your continued usage despite the fact that several people have commented on it.
I would say you're right, I can interpret your posts just fine, but you're removing the inclination, so what's the difference?

it's called etiquette (er, ...actually netiquette). It is commonly understood by most online users: typing in all caps is considered shouting.
So it would just be considerate of you to type in mixed-case using conventional grammar (or at least lower-case).
You, of course, dont have to but you might find you get tepid responses (or non at all) to your posts. And really, the entire point of forums such as this one is to interact amiably with others you share an interest with.

Hi STITCHES. Having taken part of my degree in Typography I can
assure you, STITCHES that typing in all upper case makes what you
are tyring to say far less legible. Part of the way the human eye
reads words and phrases is by recognising the profile of the text,
so that rather than reading every letter your eye sees chunks at a time.
When typing all in uppercase the profile of the text is lost
meaning it is much harder to read because the eye has to focus on
each letter. If you need to draw attention
to something I suggest using bold or a larger text size.
Hopefull being the rational human being that you are you will take
this informnation onboard and in future posts you won't have this
problem.
PS. I am assuming that no body is holding a gun to your head right
now screaming 'Either type in all uppercase or don't use any
spaces.' because although it may be the lesser of two evils noone
is forcing you to choose any evil. Here I put it in the form of an
equation for you:
Evil > Lesser Evil
Lesser Evil > No Evil
See?
PPS. Saying anything related to 'getting out into the real world'
when you yourself are on the internet right now is
automatically negated. |

I NEVER SAID MY ONLY OPTIONS WERE TO TYPE IN CAPS OR NOT USE SPACES. I ONLY SAID THAT IT'S MUCH EASIER TO READ ALL CAPS THAN TO READ SOMETHING WITH NO SPACES BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE TOOK THEIR MOMS TITS OUT OF THEIR MOUTHS LONG ENOUGH TO SAY THEY WERE HAVING TROUBLE COMPREHENDING, AND WAS MAKING A COMPARISON FOR THEM.
I'M NOT TRYING TO DRAW ATTENTION TO ANYTHING AND THUS DON'T NEED TO USE LARGER TEXT. THIS IS THE WAY I TYPE.

Too bad that you, and I, and the scores of people who have tried to ask politely for a bit of 'netiquette' are all wrong and don't know what we're talking about - it's clearly perfectly enjoyable to read posts in all caps for everyone. I might even submit that it's even easier to read his posts, since of course, skipping them over is fairly simple.

That laughing you might be hearing has nothing to do with the ridiculousness of typing with 'caps' on principle.
You're just too stubborn to back down or accede to requests from the people you're supposedly trying to communicate with. Call that principle if you want. But don't ask or expect me to read your posts from this point on, and certainly not to re-read when I've suffered to do so at least once in the hopes of allowing you to save some face and say, "There, thanks, all you had to do was ask nicely." and making myself look like the bad guy instead of you.
