Based on the Star Trek Drinking Game (drink whenever Kirk hits on a woman... etc.) and its spiritual father, "Hi Bob", I've realized that nothing would commenorate the JFK assasination better than a good ol fashioned Drinking game. The images form the whole thing are now a cliche So load up on your favorite libation (beer is best), gather round the electronic hearth, switch on the History Channel or CNN, and take a drink whenever you see the clip of:
-- Jackie getting off the plane in the Pink Suit with a dozen red roses
-- You hear the words "Texas Book Depository" "Grassy Knoll" or "Union Avenue"
-- Walter Cronkite taking off his glasses and getting choked up.
-- Slam your whole beer whenever they show any clip from the Zapruder film. Pour a shot of hard stuff and down it if its the shot of Jack smiling and waving at ol Abe Zapruder.
-- Anybody mentiones the phrase "Kennedy Curse". Two drinks if its Bobby (the first Kennedy to actually admit it). Three if its in reference to Jackie's "They're Killing Kennedys" comment.
-- The shot of Jack and Jackie waltzing at their wedding
-- John-John saluting his dad at the funeral
-- The shot of Jackie between Bobby and Teddy in her black mantilla, walking in front of the casket. Two drinks if the voice-over or anybody comments using the word "Dignity" Chug the whole thing if its voiced over by Letitia Baldridge or Pierre Slesinger.
-- The shot of shellshocked Jackie on Air Force One while LBJ takes the Oath of Office
-- If "Jack's Indiscretions" is mentioned. Two drinks if they actually come out and name Marilyn. Chug the whole thing if they show the "Happy Birthday Mr President" song. Follow it with a shot of hard stuff if they actually show the grimicing Jackie leaving afterwards.
-- Any picture of John-John underneath Jack's desk in the oval office. Two drinks if anybody ever mentiones Caroline at all.
-- Any variation of "Joe Kennedy's ambition for his children was strong"
-- The Life Magazine Cover with the picture of Oswald holding his rifle.
-- The clip of Oswald being led out by authorities and then shot by Jack Ruby. Two drinks if they play the audio of Ruby hollering: "Hey, Oswald!"
Now that's a way to spend a cold friday/saturday night in November! We'll be back later with "bonus rules" that reference the RFK assassination and then Chappaquidick.

Nice idea! However, I don't think I can hold that much liquor anymore. Too many blackouts in college, I'm afraid....
P.S. As luck would have it, I have been laid up sick and watching the History Channel's "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" pretty much all week. I have seen enough stock footage to drive Mother Theresa to drink. |

My office looks down on Dealey Plaza and it has been buzzing like a hornets nest all week long. Today the road is closed off and they are doing some type of filming.
The JFK drama is something we are reminded of almost daily here in Dallas since the immediate area where it took place is pretty much unchanged since that day. |
