you say frank didn't "do it on purpose." he doesn't miss notes on purpose either. but they're there. just like the distortion is there. he set up the system as it is and continues using it as it is, knowing full well the blemishes and imperfections that will happen.
catholics albums are like hard, crusty, chewy bread with stone chips from the wood-burning oven in it. if you can't stand to chip a tooth now and then, go eat some wonderbread. |

I never said I didn't like the albums. Since he's using the same system as the previous two albums, then why wasn't anyone bitching about clipping on those? They weren't because it's much worse on SMYT. It's a problem that can and should be easily fixed because it's sloppy and distracting and the album, as good as it is, would be better without it. Don't pretend to preach to me from some sanctimonious punk aesthetic soap box. There's no reason for FB to not try to get the best sound he can with what he has. If you're going to do 100 takes of a song to get it just right, why wouldn't you want it to sound good too? All it takes is to turn it down .5 dB. Why do the FB&C albums need to be mastered so hot anyways? So they can pop out when they get played on the radio? That's a joke. The only radio playing them is college and they're probably being played inbetween lo-fi indies anyway. Anyhow, this thread has gotten silly. The clipping is there. It'd be better if it weren't there, but we still love the album anyhow. DITS sounds better, but FB can't afford to record at Sound City all the time, so nuts to us. I think we'd all take crappy sounding FB over no FB at all.

Yah'll need to just chill and be thankful you live in the age where rock music and recordings exist. |
