Dude, I love toadies. (Sorry, that wasn't the original purpose of your post, I don't know anything about Burden Brothers..) How many albums did they have? I've only ever seen Possum Kingdom. Are they still around? Or is this Todd Lewis' new band?

sigh.....the toadies came out with a great sophmore album "Hell below/Stars above". Your reactoin is too common, nobody knew about the record....Burden Bros. is his follow up band, very subpar in my opinion. |

Yeah this is Todd's new engine. August of 2001, after 12 years with the Toadies, he desided it was over when Lisa quit the band. They played a few shows last year during Christmas/New Years, but without Lisa. Since then the BB's signed to a record label out of NY. In January Frank was supposed to go to Dallas to record with them (I'm guessing for the cover of Czar), but then they changed labels. So I don't know if this has happened. www.burdenbrothers.us
On the Toadies BBS a few fans are sending out the Ultimate Toadies CD. 20 or so songs that never made it to a studio album. Quite enjoyable. "Send You To Heaven" should have been a hit. There is also a "Fan DVD" making the rounds that includes old home made videos from gigs and all there music videos. Todd looks funny with a mustache.
Drummer Mark Rez said there is still hope that an independant record label will be puting out the long lost studio album from 1997 called Feeler. The Toadies BBS is listed here www.toadiesmusic.com Every so often Rez gives us an update.

Why is that one sentence crossed out in my original post, Thomas?
The Burden Brothers sound pretty good. I might have to give this album a try.

I couldn't even hum a vocal melody, guitar part, or quote a lyric from Czar off the top of my head. Never been a song that grabbed by attention. Maybe I would immediately recognize it if I heard it, seeings how I've listened to the eponymous Frank Black album many, many times. It's not far from where I sit, but I'm a lazy man. |

thanks for the update. Where can I get one of these cd on 11/18? will they be out in all stores or will I need to go to Good Records. I guess this is more of a question for the DFW folks because Good Records is a cool record store in Dallas. |

the Burden Brothers rock. as for where the record is available: Good records in Dallas - they have the most consitient supply. Tower Records check 'em out. they're playing some shows around Texas in December, opening for Janes Addiction. Czar didn't make it onto the album.. thats why the crossed out text Burden Brothers web site |

i am a huge toadies fan and i must say that the burden brother's full length is mostly shit. it's much too 'texas cock rock' for me. hard to believe that someone as creative as v. todd lewis had anything to do with it.
