Can anyone recommend any gigs to me in London? I am now able to afford to see bands again after much poverty immediately post-uni, so I'm well up for seeing gigs - new bands especially, but anything gratefully received.

I'll be at Cat On Form this Friday if you wanna come...

Frank is playing Shephards Bush Empire in 1st December.
Mark Lanegan is playing Mean Fiddler (great venue)on 29th November.
Radiohead are playing Earls Court on 26th November.
Blur are playing Brixton Academy on 3rd December.

Those are the gigs i'm going to in the near future, i have to limit myself because i'm totally skint.

I would try to catch British Sea Power who are supporting Electric Soft Parade at the Astoria on Wednesday 12th November. Other new bands I am seeing are Fiery Furnaces at the Metro on Monday 10th November and Stellastarr* at the Carling Academy Islington on Monday 24th November.

I haven't even heard of Fiery Furnaces I don't think, so quoi? Are Stellastar* actually any good?

I've actually just come back from Cat On Form, and twas blinding. One of the most energetic bands I've seen for ages. Youth Movie SOundtrack Strategies were excellent as well.

Well the Guardian liked them at the Rough Trade show and it is one of the few rock gigs I can remember them giving 5 stars to

http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/reviews/story/0,11712,1064703,00.html

although that might be because of The Libertines reunion factor. I saw them as second support to Sleater Keeny at the Mean Fiddler this summer and they were very impressive and that gig was awesome.

I have the Stellastarr* album which I think is very good but I have not seen them live myself. I have seen mixed reports on other forums but I am going along because I too like to see new bands and inevitably there has to be a first time to see them.
