Echo and the Bunnymen have been called great by many of my favorite bands, especially Pavement. I just bought Evergreen, the Echo and the Bunnymen reunion record from 1997, and from what I've listened to of it a few times, it seems alright, but nothing spectacular. I realize it's a reunion record and most of the time when bands reunite, they don't create their best music. "Killing Moon" by Echo is a great song, and there's nothing close to that on this so far. It's not horrible, though. There's some cool guitar parts scattered throughout. Maybe it will take some more spins to really hit me.

Yeah, the true Echo and the Bunnymen era is 1980-1984, with sporadic reunion and comeback albums scattered throughout until recently. I enjoy them, but they haven't ever blown me away with an album. I would suggest Crocodiles as a good next album to get, their first, and one of their most famous albums. (and a pretty standard classic of post-punk music)

I would say that 'Flowers' is the best of their comeback albums. Hats off to them for contuining to produce decent music.

Yeah, I picked up Flowers for free once, and I liked it... I have no idea what the old stuff is like.

Ocean Rain is supposed to be good. If you ever get the chance, watch the Bunnymen doing Killing Moon on Top Of The Pops. Its beyond hilarious.
Also, everyone else agree that that track fitted so well on the Donnie Darko soundtrack?
