Hello everybody.
I'd like to know some things about SXSW festival, that happens every year in Austin, TX. My band signed up for the festival and I think we're on some kind of shortlist to perform.
but we live pretty far, in Brazil. so, we need as much info as possible to know if it'd be worth for us to spend all this money to travel that far.
if someone knows about it, ever attended, etc, please tell.

I'm not sure about the details, but I assume your band has already participated in some sort of regional competition? I ask this because I know that dozens of bands in each of a bunch of regions (I am unaware of any outside of USA--but maybe that's where you come in?) compete and the regional winners are flown to Austin to participate in the finals. So if your question is whether it's worth it to travel to the US merely to participate in a regional competition and hope to make it to the finals, I would say probably not. Of course, if you think your band is a shoo in for making it through the entire regionals, maybe it's worth the risk for you. Otherwise, I wouldn't think of it as a solid investment.

indeed, it would be my neck of the woods.
i have gone to sxsw every year since 93 and i lived in austin during college.
more specific questions would garner a better respones...
