Great show yesterday in Evreux. Pierre (debaser) and I went together, spent 2 1/2 hours in a traffic jam and missed the opening band but got there on time to see Frank's complete show. I was expecting a very laid-back, country gig for some reason, but it was just the contrary, they rocked harder than ever. Plus Frank wore a black leather jacket, black t-shirt and black sunglasses which made him look really wicked. No Cold Heart Of Stone or Manitoba; the only 2 "slow" songs were How You Went So Far and New House in the middle of the gig, and the rest was really heavy and rocking. The songs from Show Me Your Tears really sound great in concert; I never cared much about The Snake but I think the live version was amazing. All the band seemed in a good mood (except that Rich threw his guitar away at the beginning of the show, I think he was pissed off because of some lights or something, but it didn't last). Frank introduced the band and thanked the crowd at the end. I'm seeing them again next month in Paris and I can't wait.
Setlist was as follows (in order): Nadine Black Letter Day All My Ghosts The Snake Velvety Hermaphroditos I Want Rock 'n' Roll How You Went So Far New House Of The Pope Goodbye Lorraine Headache Robert Onion Everything Is New Jane The Queen Of Love Velouria Caribou Cactus Bullet California Bound The Black Rider Massif Centrale
encore: Freedom Rock Abstract Plain When Will Happiness Find Me Again Where Is My Mind

Mmm... It looks like they're alternating between "Goodbye Lorraine" and "Horrible Day".
This sounds like a really great tour. Wish it was (officially) recorded... It would make a kickass live CD.
Merci pour le compte rendu, Denis!

Nothing like kicking off the encore with Freedom Rock. Was this your first show, Denis?

No, did I sound like it was? It was my 4th, after Paris '96, St Malo '01 and Paris '03. But this year's parisian gig was a solo acoustic set, and I missed half of the St Malo concert due to heavy traffic, so I had never really enjoyed a full Catholics show until yesterday. And yeah, Freedom Rock was awesome.

Very nice thanks! Did Frank converse in French at all throughout the night?
Strummer-man I had me a vision!

I forgot the low point of the show: there was no merchandising at all, and I couldn't grab a poster from the wall, as I got out of the theatre too late. Serafin gave away free stickers and promo CDs, I listened to it yesterday, and it turns out it consists of 6 half-songs, which is rather stupid. They actually sound kind of good, but they stop abruptly after a minute or so. I guess they want to prevent piracy, but that's weird anyway.
