New to the forums and new as a Frank Black fan. Yes, that's right ~ new as a Frank Black fan. Shameful as that may be, at least I can say I've finally discovered his greatness, even if I'm a little late. I was turned on when I came across the 'Teenager of the Year' album on Rhapsody and after hearing Abstract Pain and the Vanishing Spies, I wondered why I never got into his stuff sooner. So anyway, hi ~ hope you're nice to newbies.

Hey brooke. I think mostly everyone here is nice to newbies. Everyone has to start sometime and better now than never, so welcome aboard - I think you'll dig it.

And hey! *virtual slap across the face* stop being so down on yourself bud. even if you're not in the cool group (and I'm not even sure there really is one here) make your own :) sorry, I spose my lifetime of unpopularity has spawned some useless theories.

Hey Jake,

Welcome to FB Worship Central. Glad you finally got there.

My only advice for a newbie: get the tribute album :-)

(I'm not a newbie. I'm just shy.)

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Very cool. Jediroller, which tribute album are you speaking of? I looked it up on Rhapsody and there's more than one. By the way, I don't know if any of you use an online music service like Rhapsody, but it's my newest addiction. I've discovered & rediscovered more music in the past week or so than I have in the three years prior. It's really fun, so I highly recommend this sort of thing to anyone. After all, it turned me on to Frank Black! What other types of music do you like here? I'd be interested to see if all of us have similar taste in other music as well as our mutual fondness of Frank B.

Well, my favorite band is They Might Be Giants, and other bands I really like are XTC, the Young Fresh Fellows, Camper Van Beethoven, and Moxy Früvous.

He's talking about the FB Fan made tribute album "You Ain't Me." Look in the FTP section, you'll find all the information there. Do get it though, it's amazing.

That was totally a joke which I thought was fairly funny. I've been a member here for over a year. I used to be in like 4 yahoo clubs befoe this site finally was born, it often talked about... with the a fair number of people who used to post there but now live here like me.

I love this site.

Thank you, honestly, for the slap to the face. I've been really depressed lately and being very hard on myself. I'm in a rut. I need to get out of it. I think I may have manic depression or bipolar disorder, on top the fact I already have for sure Panic Disorder, and I am an alcoholic/addict/chainsmoker. Damn, I need to solve my problems.

Anyway, thanks for the love man

Hey, LBF, sorry if I came across as flippant. I suffer from depression too; it's a difficult thing to solve but can be overcome.

I hope things get better for you, and I know it never helps to hear this but chin up huh. That's the first step anyhow.

It's hard

My, what eclectic taste you have! TMBG are fun... "particle man, particle man.." True originals. You oughta try Rhapsody -->http://www.bestbuy.com/rhapsody ~ with such eclectic taste as yours, I imagine you'd be like a kid in a candy store!

I'm not even sure I'd say my tastes ARE all that eclectic. Most of it is pretty similar. It just doesn't fit too well into any of the music industry's categories.

I know it’s still fun to go to the store and buy the actual CD for the pictures, lyrics, etc., but I’m starting to think it’s cheaper in the long run to download the songs online. I don’t mean pirate them, but get them from a subscription service. Just seems like it would be more cost effective and convenient. Anyone here do that already? If so, what service do you use? Here’s some of the ones I’ve looked at;
BEST BUY's Digital Music Service ~ http://www.listen.com/bestbuy
Press Play ~ http://www.pressplay.com/
i-Tunes ~ http://www.apple.com/itunes/ (I would have to get a Mac???)
Buymusic.com ~ http://www.buymusic.com/ "

Apparently you don't need a Mac for spamming!
