Here's what I'm doing. Tune so what would normally be Em becomes that slightly de-tuned F#m. Try it, you'll like it.......

yah doolittle is tuned up like a quarterstep or a step or something weird, for some reason

Could be that the engineer sped up the tape. James Brown did this quite frequently to give the tunes more energy.

Some days I can't even read my own writing...A better way to say what I meant is just tune your A string up to the "B" on the original, and tune the rest up to that. Now you end up playing this:
Am E F D
C G D F7
Hope that makes more sense....
