What if Frank included all the corresponding b-sides to his albums? Would they have hurt the albums or contributed to making it better?
...for example, I always thought that the 'Surf Epic' would have made a great last tune for his first album and was glad to see the alternate version of it at the end of DITS. |

Surf Epic is wayyyy too long to have been a good conclusion to the first album. Most of his B-Sides are just as good as the album tracks...some should have been put on the album (mainly the CoR b-sides), but I suppose I can see why they were left off.

| Frank wanted to include them on Cult of Ray, it originally had nearly as many songs as Teenager, but American Recordings made him cut it down to 13. It's too bad, if Cult included stuff like Announcement, its reputation would probably be a lot better. |

I think it's really cool when b-sides turn out to be awesome songs. The "it shoulda been on the album" thing isn't something I think about. If it's good, I'm happy to have heard it either way.
If that Cult of Ray info is true, it's pretty baffling. Long CDs were pretty common then. Silly label! |

I like there being EPs with extra songs, but I hate the fact that they're often hard to find. On the other hand, I guess that provides an extra sense of satisfaction when you actually find them. The only Frank EP I have is "Hang On To Your Ego."

| Jason, I think it might have had something to do with a reaction to Teenager of the Year, complaints that it was too long, ext. BS naturally. |
