Apparently "I Could Stay Here Forever" couldn't stay here forever, because it's now gone. Here's what's left:
1. Whatever Happened To Pong? 2. Thalassocracy 3. (I Want To Live On An) Abstract Plain 4. Calistan 5. The Vanishing Spies 6. Speedy Marie 7. Headache 8. Sir Rockaby 9. Freedom Rock 11. Fiddle Riddle 12. Olé Mulholland 15. The Hostess With The Mostest 16. Superabound 17. Big Red 18. Space Is Gonna Do Me Good 19. White Noise Maker 20. Pure Denizen Of The Citizens Band 21. Bad, Wicked World 22. Pie In The Sky
I'm going with "The Hostess With The Mostest" to leave next.

I don't think we are dissing his material. What I am interested in is finding out which tracks on every album his fans like best, but at this rate it will never happen. Maybe we need to rate an album's tracks in the same way a lot of us ranked his studio albums - and then get some poor sod to tally up the responses. Have I just volunteered myself? Floop, if you ever analyse this - do you think I ever passed (ho ho) the anal phase?

thats fair enough. i guess dissing isnt the word. its just that i love teenager from start to finish - it may not have my fave FB songs on it (ive seen your picture and western star) ... but from pong to pie it sounds perfect just the way it is. imho of course.

Hey guys,
This is just a frivilous exercise. It isn't supposed to "work" or have an official "point". It, much like most everything in this forum, is merely an entertaining diversion.

I think it's funny how aboout 6-10 people vote in this game and with about 4 votes a song get's booted. Think about how many Frank Black fans there are. Ok, now make a ratio. "People playing this game (10) to Frank Black fans(X times 1000)". There is no validity. I bet if every frank black fan were polled on their favorite Teenager of the Year song, every single song would be chosen by someone. Probably numerous times.

If i was on this site and called myself a frank black fan and, oh wait I am here and I am a fan. I would like every song he has ever sang or written even though I've seen the man quite a few times and after hearing certain songs every show I still don't dis them although I'd like to hear different ones! Grow up and get a new band!

Am I seriously reading this? Maybe it's all tongue-in-cheek?
There are people seriously bent on censoring something as benign as this little diversion?
There are people who truly believe we are attempting to represent a statistically significant cross-section of Frank Black fans?
There are people unaware of the fact that by ranking our favorite ablums or songs or lines, we are implicitly devaluing the others? (Maybe it's a simple matter of semantics. How about we agree to ask people to "vote for" those we want to keep, deftly omitting the one we wish not to see in the next round? Would that be a rosier scenario for everyone?)
And worst of all, there are actually people on this board who are unwilling to posit even a single negative word against Frank Black? I mean, I realize "fan" is short for fanatic, but come on.
Are you all on this board because Frank looks cool or acts cool or says cool things, or at some point, did you actually decide he makes cool music? Or perhaps it's more like you decided not that he makes cool music, but that he cannot, has never, nor will ever fail to make cool music. Does that sound more accurate?
My opinion is that Frank Black is not God. While he is the greatest living musician I'm aware of, he's still just a guy writing and singing some songs. I think he'd be the first to tell you just that. Even he admits he's released some serious trash. And we're not even pushing something like that.
Anyway, I realize I am being a hothead over this, but I am frankly incredulous at reading the posts of people actually wanting to stifle something so harmless and irrelevant. I think if this type of subject bugs you, it might be best to not keep reading all the posts underneath it. Boycott the damn thing, for Pete's sake.
By way of preemption, yeah I do need to take a chill pill, and "just relax" and calm down and not get my panties in a wad and not steal copyrighted Doom wads and all that.
I still love you all like my very own children.

I cannot believe people are getting bitchy over a forum subject.... saying that you can never interpret what someone means through text... maybe people are sounding like they are getting fucked off with each other when they in fact mean something completely different.... Still, it makes interesting reading.
My opinion is that if people want to do it then do it, people who don't then don't bother I guess.... For me this isn't the most interesting thread, but then again its not slagging off Frank either... just people having a bit of fun. I still think that too many people like too many different songs and oit will take 200 years to finally dwindle a long album like TOTY down to 1 track. But carry on, I'll still give you input...... as long as Speedy Marie gets #1.

I won't post on every Survivor thread, so just add one vote to get Pure Denizen eliminated each time you start a new thread, and when it's done send me a mail, OK? I'll choose Space Is Gonna Do Me Good after that.

In another thread I rated Cult of Ray as my least fave Frank album, and Bossanova as my least fave Pixies album - but I have a lot of time for them both - I just prefer the others. To me it is harmless - I find it interesting which albums/tracks fans (and we are all fans on this forum!) rate highly. Thus I take the point that it takes too long, and repeat again - should (for those who don't mind participating)we do it the other way round and get people to either rate an entire album's tracks or their fave three choices per album?

I doubt he'd ever do it, he always doubles back when an interviewer asks him his favorite songs, even off the new album. Sometimes he does answer though...i know at the time, he said the last two songs on Frank Black were some of his favorites, and he said End of Miles for the new albums.

Kind of strange....at the first Horseshoe show someone yelled 'Dance War' and Frank's reply was 'God, what was I smokin' when I wrote that song!' No big deal. The man himself said something about a song he wrote and it has not and will not sway my feelings for the song. Once a recording is out there it is free for interpretation, likes/dislikes and critiquing. I could not give a damn what anyone has to say about any particular song. I can't remember ever skipping over a song to get to the next on any FB album. But hey, that's just me. I have no favourite and will not vote any song off. (actually, one of my most appreciated songs might be Announcement or At The End Of The World)But nobody needs to know that! Come to think of it, I am listening to California Bound at the moment and I think this song is now my favourite!?

The only song I can think of that he panned specifically was "Manta Ray", from the Pixies. Odd because they played it for a John Peel show, but I guess opinions change of your work as you go on. This song is not to be confused with "Dancing the Manta Ray" which Frank clearly loves to play.

i think of all the songs he has done.. ramona and adda lee seem to stick out in my mind as two of his most reflective (and i would hope he would mention them as faves) - its cool to write a song about a band who had so much influence on your music career. cue ode to frank... cheers
