Is the character in Ed is Dead the same person that Frank has written Adda Lee about? He said that Adda Lee was about someone who had died who was very dear to him, an ex-girlfriend I presume. Help forum, please!
i read that it was a relative.. and i got the impression that it had just happened, around the time he wrote songs for self-titled. so i don't think so.. but i've always been curious about ed is dead.
i remember when frank talked about Adda Lee he said it was one of the first times he got really "personal" in his songs.. writing about a personal, serious thing.
I'm always gonna think of my grandfather whenever I hear "Ed Is Dead" now. His name was Ed. His middle name was Francis. He was Catholic. He died the day before I saw a Frank Black show, back in April. Spooky! I think there are some other conincidence-stretches I thought of, but can't remember at the moment. But the bottom line: Charles must've prophetically written that song about my grampa. :)
Apologies for resurrecting (ha ha) this topic - but as there are new members who might not have the time to search through everything - does anyone else know any more about Ed is Dead or Adda Lee?
