Well, they just elected Governor Schwarzenegger, so I wouldn't be surprised--that way Californians can stand ready to screw democracy at a moment's notice!

(Sorry floop, that's not really directed at you at all. I have an election coverage hangover.)

Heh-heh. I was going to mention that, too. I always heard that a disgruntled animator did that out of spite. I have a friend who has a big Little Mermaid poster, and those towers in the background are unmistakably penile.

That's what I always heard too. Anyone heard of Harlan Ellison? I heard he started working for Disney for a day, and then got fired for acting out lewd impersonations of Donald and Daisey Duck having sex.

I have to say floop that I'm pretty durned impressed your working on a Disney movie in the first place.

To get back on the subject of monogamy, it might not be entirely natural, but it's probably the simplest, as long as you have any interest in a long-term relationship at all.

With polygamy, the jealousy factor would almost certainly come into play, at least in our society. Maybe this wouldn't be so much of a problem if a polygamous person treated all of his or her partners exactly equally (doesn't Islamic law say something about that?), but is that really all that practical?

Yeah, I agree with Nathan here. I think that when it works, monogamy rocks. Besides, if you're together long enough, you each change every few years, so it's not like you're with exactly same person you started out with. (And hopefully, you'll still like that person.)

A lot of good discussion here. I couldn't resist or ignore a post about sex and lust...mmm...sex and lust. I shall offer advice and ridicule and whatever else is on tap. I have to say I agree with most posted here, especially floop's first post.

Crouton, how old are you? Do you consider yourself a sexual person? On a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being dead and 10 being creamjeansvaseline, how are your hormones? You say you don't look at girls as being "hot" and you don't enjoy porn...I'd guess you're in the lower end of the spectrum. Perhaps you don't know who you are sexually, or maybe you know you're pretty dormant. That's fine for your situation...saving yourself for marriage and all, but in all honesty, I think you're nuts.

The "saving your self for marriage" bit is the biggest bunch of bullshit that we're taught from a very early age (especially if you're religious). Biologically, like most people said, we're not meant for monogamy. Most of us "crave sex." A philosophical friend of mine once brought up that the whole "sex within marriage only" is an ancient form of population control...it was very strict because their society couldn't handle (and it still can't) the unwanted children produced from promiscuous sex. Therefore, you could only have sex within marriage so your family could take care of the children and not the state nor the society you lived in.

Take it from a guy with hormones in the teens on a 1-10 scale, once you get the taste of sex, you're going to want more. My girlfriend is the only girl I've ever had sex with, and I truely love her (and I know it's true love, there's no denying it). If there was one regret in my relationship (assuming we marry) is that I've never had sex with any other female. The sex will always be great in the beginning, but just as scientifically true this little tidbit is, it's just as true that it will bubble and fade out, leaving you hanging, literally...it will make you spiteful and resentful and horny as shit. You have to get out there and experience sex, there's nothing wrong with it if you're doing it for the right reasons and taking the right precautions.

It's also important to take sex serious. I'd like to punch the faces in of the guys who just fuck a girl to get off and that's it. It's fucking bullshit, and not fair. I don't feel comfortable in sex unless my girlfriend is...I don't feel comfortable ...ending it unless my girlfriend has....well, you get the picture. It's a mutual thing. It's important that both people get the same out of it.

THE END

Hmm...El Barto...

I'm 15. I guess I'm more of a sensual person *shrugs*. As far as hormones go...it depends. The range is from 1-6. Also, I do know who I am sexually. Oh, and also:

If there was one regret in my relationship (assuming we marry) is that I've never had sex with any other female.

Umm...Are you sure you really love her? I don't want to pick a bone or anything...but jeeze. Sex is obviously more physical for you than it is emotional. I don't understand that at all, as you don't understand my viewpoint. Oh well. And don't start giving me shit about my age, either. "Oh you're so naive." "You're dumb. You're too young to know that yet."

No...not really. Because of my battle with Lyme Disease and stuff I have plenty of time to think. In case you're wondering, I have a girlfriend. She's 17 and we've been together for 7 months. Before that we were best friends for atleast 2 years. I love her very much. It took me a while to believe that because I wasn't sure if it was infatuation or love. A lot of people helped me find that answer, especially her, for obvious reasons. Sorry...I usually get pounded on for my age. If I offended anyone, I'm sorry, really I am. Those aren't my intentions.

Marriage, when you get right down to it, is largely symbolic. I think it makes sense not to have sex unless you're in a committed relationship, for obvious reasons, but marriage as such is sort of saying that shouldn't be allowed to have sex unless you pay a preacher some money. Now, this ISN'T to say that I'm anti-marriage, just that I don't think it's really necessary as long as both people are committed to the relationship.

Positive it's love...it's been tested many a time. Sex is both emotional and physical to me. You'll understand what it's like once you actually have sex and as you get older. No matter what you might think, 15 is still young.

Haha, I asked you not to give me shit. I know I am young. I just don't understand why you'd regret only having sex with 1 person. I'd be very proud of that, myself. I mean....since you know what love is like, shouldn't knowing that you're going to spend the rest of your life with her be enough? I mean, if you're so upset that you didn't sleep around...I don't know. A wannabe slut, maybe? I mean...if you can even think about having sex with other women while you're still in your relationship with your girlfriend, I recommend you grow up. Lust sucks by itself. Lust sucks even more horribly in a relationship. Don't let it get the best of you.

You would think that, wouldn't you? I'd be happy to spend the rest of my life with my girlfriend. There's the feeling inside me, the desire, to have more sex than I am having. Some people are like that. That's why people cheat, it's because they're not getting what they need out of their relationship. Some people are better at controlling their hormones. Me, I just masturbate constantly.

You don't understand homeboy. I'm telling you, this shit is easy to say at 15 with no past behind you or no experience in that department. I was the same way. All I wanted was one girl to be with forever, that's all I needed. Things change, people change, needs change, your body changes. You will change so much in the next 5 years no matter what you might think. I can tell you this from experience.

I just read a few of these posts and I just have a question for the women sleeping around. How do you not get pregnant? Condoms don't work all the time. I'm a hardcore virgin so I don't know.

Hardcore as in strongly feel about saving yourself for marriage, or "hardcore" as in you just haven't gotten any yet?

(I was the latter version for a long time when I was younger.)

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Sheesh! Sorry, but are they not teaching kids about sex in school anymore?
And what the hell is with the insinuation that any of the ladies on this board are "sleeping around"? Do you realize that that phrase connotates "slutty"? Gimmee a break! Who's gonna answer a question like that? My best for you is "mu".
cripes.

I just realized that may sound harsh. Let me explain here. You just asked a question parallel to the ol'"So, did you stop kicking your dog yet?".

I don't think anyone has said that they "sleep around" but for your reference the best way to not get pregnant and not get AIDS is to wear a condom. They really should teach you that in school.

You are correct in that sometimes condoms do split, they have for me in the past but i think that may be my boyfriend being too eagar and not careful enough putting them on.

To be extra safe you could also take the Pill, although this will not protect you from AIDS.

Remember, do not use two condoms at once, do not use cling film or plastic bags and you can get pregnant and get AIDS the first time. Just watch KIDS, that should scare you, you'll never have sex.

Hey CroutonFouton i'm not giving you shit because your 15 but why do you believe that sex before marriage is a bad thing, are you reglious?

mmm...don't be offended but lust doesn't suck and you are not obbligated to marry every girl you sleep with.

quote:
People are also really shallow..it annoys me. I mean, I think it's wrong, yet I'm the odd one out. I'm the one who's ridiculed for not thinking of girls as "hot". Oh yeah, and according to them, I'm gay. I'm gay because I'm not superficial and don't watch porn - No joke. Do people not have morals anymore? Or even ethics for that matter? I don't get it. Blah. Okay...sorry for the rant...please voice your opinion.

people are not shallow, they are just people.when you are a teenager you go around talking about sex that's what being a teenager is about.watching porn and checking out the chicks prepares you for real life and morals has nothing to do with it,it's just curiosity and hormones...and being called gay is normal, teenagers tend to exclude those who don't fit in their way of thinking and since you consider yourself as superior to them it's natural that they call you names.
my advice is,stop worrying about morality and about spending your life with one girl, sex and relationships are not things that you can program specially at your age.

No. But children are.

Anyone see that TV ad..i think it was German..there's a dad and kid shopping in a grocery store, and the kid grabs some candies and sticks them in the shopping cart, the dad says no. Kid puts it back in the cart, dad puts it back - 'no'.

Kid FREAKS RIGHT OUT, screaming, total tantrum.

It ends up an ad for condoms. =)
