So now that I have the idea of a best of cd in mind how about this: A best of Frank, Live cd. I have relatively few boots so this is mostly up to you guys. Help decide what tracks from which live shows/sessions/appearances should be on a best of Frank Live comp.
-John The Revalator (TodayFM w/ Glen Hansard) -Gouge Away (Nadine single) -Black Rider (what's that acoustic one where "Old Butterfingers" drops his pick?) -Sister Isabelle (take your pick, they're all great and slightly different) -Living on Soul (Peel Sessions) -Billy Radcliffe (Peel Sessions) -Theme from One Step Beyond (Live Thursday) -The Shrimp Song (again take your pick; I'm leading toward the TodayFM one for the time being but it's just so different I might change my mind on that)
Hmm, what else? |

I would add :
- This Is Where I Belong (No Big Deal or Black Is Beautiful, 1993) - Duke Of Earl (Hello Recording Club, 1993) - Abstract Plain (Live in Paris, bonus track, 1994) - Don't Clip Your Wings (Live from Slim's, Frisco, 2003)

Mr Grieves - Bottleneck, 2001-05-02, (on the FTP site) - Frank gets mad with the fans for singing the next line before he's ready
Six Sixty Six - any of the hellbent versions he plays live

Am I the only one who's not so fond of 6-6-6 live? When I saw him do it for the first time at my show I thought, 'this is really cool" but I expected it to pick up eventually. It never did. >:O |

I saw 666 live twice. The first time I thought it was just causing ear damage and the second time I put in my ear plugs and basically sat out the song. |

I prefer the straight country-rockin' version of 666 to the slow "noise" version. I was right at the front of the stage and it just physically made me feel terrible. Seizure robots, anyone?
I think that the version of Massif Central on Live from the Double Door is the best I've heard. You also gotta have the drunken Mr. Grieves from The Bottleneck bootleg. That whole set kicks ass.

yeah 666 live is just to damn slow and loud. What's worse is I was at the Warsaw NY show last year and the sound was terribly loud and messy as it was, that song was just excruciating. |

i'd recommend the "calistan" w/ E.D. Feldman from Slim's in 2003. the one with eric on piano and frank singing

Every single live show I've gone to he's played 666 live, and it was cool the first time and quickly wore out its welcome. I get bored with it too, much prefer the album version. It's the only song I really don't want to hear them play, and I've heard it every time. There's only so much time to fit in so many songs, and I'd rather hear ANYTHING. But 1 song out of 30 isn't too bad, I guess.

That's a good point, that damn song does take up way too much time. Another thing is, it sounds like it should be an intro so it completely fails when played in the middle of a set. |

While I'm not crazy about the live version, I like that he does it. It's so noisy and experimental, I like that Frank still has a little craziness in him, still some tricks up his sleeve. |

I love the loud 666. It's Frank's attempt at doing a sermon. Very fire and brimstone.

quick, somebody forward this page to frnk blck (his screen name was used that way on a t-shirt by the way) and get them on that double live best of 'cause it sounds like a scorcher.
..what about a title? 'live in the modern age'? nah....scorched live...nah ...UNDER THE RADAR: scorching live cuts from this and the last century...
