I always thought that the track number two on an album was significant. Track two normally can really develop an album. People who listen to albums in correct order form beginning to end are normally kept in suspense after hearing the track one...They subconsiously think "Where do you go now: how are you going to follow the lead-off track?" I think that Black has done a great job with his track twos. Plus, I wanted a survivor with both Pixies and Frank songs. So here's the list: 2) break my body 3) tame 4) rock music 5) planet of sound 6) I heard ramona sing 7) Thalassocracy 8) MEN IN BLACK 9) back to rome 10)i switched you 11)i've seen your picture 12)out of state 13)california bound 14)everything is new
If this is a dumb idea, feel free to post something like: "This is the gayest thread topic in the world. You, icecream, are the dumbest person alive. oh, and by the way, your username is idiotic"
I'll probably delete the topic if you feel this way.

I dunno, looking at the list, Its a pretty good selection. 'Best track two' sounds pretty prestigious to me, so I'll vote off Back to Rome |

I know what you mean. A friend of mine holds this theory too. Obviously track three is usually a BIG song like a single or something. After that tracks 7 and 10 tend to be significant but track two does need to rock out just a bit harder than the first, though it's usually overlooked anyway. I think the composition of an album can be a really important thing that's why I feel Black Letter Days is not a good "album." Don't get me wrong, it's fantastic and has some of my favorite songs but its composition is questionable and its long to the point of unwieldly. For this reason SMYT is an excellent, complete "album." |

Yeah, this sounds like a cool idea to me, though I'd rather think that every track selected should be important. Whatever, if people are going to vote on this I vote off Rock Music.

forgot to vote. this is really hard. It's between Men in Black and Tame methinks. aaaaaaahhhhhh . . damnit! so indecisive! Ok let's just go with Tame. I'll also go further, though no one cares, and say that I think "I heard ramona sing" and Thalassocracy are the two least effective follow-ups which is not at all a commentary on the songs themselves. Btw IceCream, I've recently created a hell of a lot more retarded posts than this one so rest easy. |

Oh damn; I had absolutely no idea how Survivor worked. I forgot you were supposed to vote OFF songs. Hehe, silly me. In that case I vote off Thalassocracy. |

Yeah, I agree that the second track is usually pretty important for drawing people into an album. I don't know that there's necessarily any specific rule for it, though; it varies from one artist and album to another. I guess I'll vote off Everything Is New.
