Rating 4.5 out of 5

One of the best concerts I saw this year was none other than Mr. Frank Black
and his devout Catholics. Now, after witnessing this classic alt.rock god in
this form, I have a new respect for his new material. He has probably put
more material out with the Catholics than with the Pixies and yet people
still think of the Pixies when it comes to Mr. Black. Sure, many people's
point of view of music radically changed after the Pixies and they were one
of the most original alt.rock bands ever but one must respect Frank for his
post-Pixies output. Show Me Your Tears is Black's first output since his
recent divorce. Expect a little darker album than some of his previous
Catholic output. Black has stated in his own words that this album is
"Thirteen big, salty tears", just as his therapist suggested. There is still
a great deal of country twang to Show Me Your Tears like for instance, "My
Favorite Kiss". But Frank easily follows that country tinged track with a
full on angry rocker called "Jaina Blues". One of the best tracks on the
album has to be "Massif Centrale". The riffs in the songs are just gigantic
and Frank uses his falsetto, something he doesn't use enough. Frank
intimately suggests a single malt scotch, straight up while listening to
this album. Listen and share your tears with Frank. This is some of the best
Frank Black output yet.

very positive review, but some of the wording sounds like it was written by a 9 year old("...first output since his
recent divorce. Expect a little darker album than some of his previous
Catholic output" etc)

What's this? An actual review as opposed to someone getting a new Frank Black CD, not playing it, and then writing about how Frank will never be as good as the Pixies?! Well done, Dennis. Even if I have to agree with Jessie that there are a few cringe worthy lines. He likes the word output, what can I say?

Jaina Blues is an angry rocker? That's not the output I got from it...
