On tonight's episode, Daly asks what Bowie thought about the Pixies reuion. Bowie say it's great, and that he heard about it that afternoon, from what I think he said from one of Daly's guys. (It smells of the MTV article.)
I have no idea when this was taped. Does anyone know? Did anyone see it? I know NBC repeats, so I'll keep an eye out when I can for it.
He also mentioned (Bowie) that he has Frank's new album and thought it was great and people should get it. I thought that was pretty cool. |

There is a definate Pixie/FB influence on the Bowie disc "Reality". You might have to listen hard but it is definately there.

Yeah that was cool when Bowie praised Frank's new stuff. Did Frank really send him the album? Of course Bowie said it wasn't released yet and wouldn't be till later in the year, but he is getting up there in age as he says. |

Not forgetting the influences on Heathen with Cactus, and, even though the Pixies didn't do it originally, I've Been Waiting For You, which clearly sounds like the old B-side..
To be fair to Bowie too, he's always been a fan. He actually stopped by in Manchester back in 1990 to see them at the Apollo, if memory serves me well, and in the Channel 4 thing about them he was one of the main guys interviewed. He was gushing forth how good they were!

Damn sure he is a Pixies fan! Tin Machine (that would be his band in late 80's) covered Debaser on tour. Well, I must confess I'm a die-hard Bowie fan, and love his early stuff also and I believe Frank also adores him. I think he should cover something from the Spiders Era on his next album. What you think?

I think Suffragette City is ideal for a cover by FB. Or maybe Watch That Man. |

I've been thinking on that and I think Watch That Man or Cracked Actor are my calls, either one would be great! Actually, Sufragette City is better than both, but my band is going to make a cover of that song! LOL

Yeh, David's playing Cactus as part of the live show regularly. Yaks about the Pixies and says "you should've bought their records".
And of course, Frank duetted with him at the 50th Birthday show in Madison Square Gardens...

I'm a Bowie fan myself, but what about that commercial for Vittel? I guess he don't need that kind of money. Or maybe he's just a huge fan of water. |

We haven't had that Vittel ad over in the UK yet i think? I don't really understand why he did it though...like you say it's not like he's getting short of money. I suspect he saw it as a way of getting a new song heard by the general public. |

Anyone here other than me first hear "I'm Afraid of Americans" and immediately think it sounded a little bit like "I wanna live in Los Angeles!" |

Yeah, Bowie is actually the richest rock star, correct? Due to some bond thing. He netted millions and millions a few years back. |

"david bowie" is a registered brand , quoted in the stock market ,so i don't think he has anything to do with that kind of decisions anymore.
