Hearing the new single of Muse; Time is running out
I can only think one thing, they are so overated

I mean when they had their first singles and all I thought they were great. Muscle Museum is a great song, so is Sunburst and Unintended
his voice was so high and he was singin solo's and all.Great!

But they were nothing new exactly, they sound like Radiohead and Jeff Buckley and stuff. But I can live with that.

But they lost me with Plug in Baby, although that song is amazing, it was the same old shit from the same old town.
That's the whole point, their songs are great, good chorus, good melody, good performance, everything ok. But it's always the same,
the sound, the quircky solo of Time is running out seems the same from that second single of Origin of Symetry (not Bliss, the other one) ohh yes I remember...newborn. Newborn is a crazy good track btw.
Ok, little off line here, let's go back: the solo's are the same, ohh yes. And the worst thing of all, why must he show us everytime he can sing higher than brian wilson. Why? It was cool the first time (muscle museum) but I'm afraid this whole solo-singing-highvocal is turning old. Don't get me wrong, the songs are ok, but the way they play them is always the same. They sound like a cover band, covering their older songs, only one style, one thing that works. Let's hope Matthew Bellamy soon realises this and goes solo and write country and western songs

I picked up a Muse album here in China, I think it was a soundtrack that they did, but have yet to listen to it.... I've listened to their first album and saw them in 2001 and back then I didn't think they were anything special.

saw them 1.5 times on a festival over here
the first time I was dissapionted
the second time I had to go halfway through because I wanted
to be at the front of the FB concert

the dutch press said:''Because Prodigy and Muse played while Frank Black did his set, the tent was only half full. The ex singer of the posies didn't deserve that.''

I think Time is running out is a great song but the new album is a disappointment.

I saw them open up for the Foo Fighters and the Red Hot Chili Peppers about 3 years ago, methinks. Wasn't impressed.

In August '2001, I bought tickets for a French festival where Frank Black & the Catholics were playing and Muse was headlining. Turns out these pricks wanted to be the last band on stage (whereas The Avalanches were supposed to play after them) and wanted to finish early (!). The only solution the people from the festival found (at the last minute) was to make all the concerts begin half an hour earlier, and when I arrived to see the Catholics play, I realized I had missed half of their show. All because of the guys from Muse. Needless to say I fucking HATE these jerks.

Frank Black, isn't he the guy with a shaved head that used to be the Smashing Pumpkins's leader?

I think they're fantastic. They're making more original and startling music than most other bands out there. They're not particularly concerned with selling lots of singles, cos if they were, they would've started dressing like the Strokes and recording in mono. I don't think they're particularly over-rated. Bands like The Vines and The Strokes are though. Their music is godawful, although 'Get Free' is ok.

Is Muse an ex-posies singer's project?

Which singer? Jon Auer or Ken Stringfellow?

Muse not concerned about selling lot's of single, like the strokes are
???

well maybe

you can look from a different angle:

-videoclips with a lot of budget (Newborn, Bliss, Time is running out, Unintended, Feelin'Good) against a videoclip were the strokes are playing a game with Guided By Fucking Voices.
-4 or 5 singles from the last albums (both showbizz and origin of symetry had that many) against 2 or 3 singles of the last album Is this it

that's the way I see it

Fair enough, but you can't argue that Muse are more over-rated than the Strokes or any of those other NME bands. The Mars Volta, for instance, make unlistenable shite, yet praise is heaped upon them.

Don't you have to get some acclaim to be overrated? I mean, who REALLY cares enough for these guys to be able to call them overrated? I mean, shall I say the same thing three times?

Even if you're Michael or Janet: it's a sad, sad planet.

I have just bought the album and I think it is very good. The songs sound better every time I play it just like Frank Black's stuff.
The thing I find interesting about Muse is that Mathew Bellamy's father was instrumental in making Pop/Rock the worldwide phenomena it is today as he was guitarist in the Tornadoes who were the first British rock group to have a number one hit in the States with Telstar. Before that all the UK used to produce were cheesy copies of real American Rock and Roll.
