Hi,
I'm Portuguese but I've just started classes this year at the University of Newcastle. I'm really hoping to be at FB's concert in Edinburgh, which isn't that far from here. Problem is I don't know Edinburgh at all.
From the train schedules I guess I can make it there around 5:30pm and then I still have to find how to get to the Liquid Rooms. Hopefully I'll manage to find it in time for the concert.
I'd also like to stay for the day and wander around town on Saturday, but I've no idea of good places to stay.
I'd really appreciate any help: directions, recommendations...
Thanks!

theres a backpackers place on the Royal mile and PLENTY of places to stay in the centre of edinburgh, depending on your price range.

Umm, thanks! I really prefer a more private room and bathroom. I was looking around for hotels and found a pretty good deal on the Ben Doran: £45 including Scottish breakfast. It doesn't seem to be that far from the centre.
Please tell me if I made a mistake, I can still cancel it :)
Now I just hope that I'll be able to go from the train station to the Ben Doran, register/drop my bag and still arrive on time for the concert. I'm not sure if I can get into the concert with my bag, don't really know the Liquid rooms... |

so do i (like my own room etc) - though when i saw words University of Newcastle, i thought of the cheapest option. Thats a pretty good price, the Ben Doran is quite nice, theres quite a few places.
i doubt they'd allow you in with bags, i dont know though, as i've not been there either.

The Liquid Rooms is very central - about 10-15 minute walk from Waverley station. I doubt they will allow you in with bags though - it might be a better idea to drop those at left luggage stores at the station.

Further to all this now sorted all my plans. I arrive 10. pm thursday night, so will head to a steak n' sabre type place and p'raps grab me some food & entertainment.
Then friday AM arthur's seat followed by ambling tourist nonsensica proving how cultured I am & what a great place the city is...then gig then club?
Then Saturday am shopping and then beer and then home!
Anyone aiming for hooking up before the gig friday?

Indeed, the excitement mounts. There is a local band/open mic slot at the Liquid Rooms tonight - what are the odds on a warm-up spot?

Right then deffo plan 4 me is to be sorry enough to be in Liquid rooms by 7PM and loiter by the bar hoping someone has the balls to say hi...fyi I'll be the woman with the black long sleeved top on limping from wearing stupid heels on cobbled streets & getting slowly wasted on guiness to help ease the pain...(any excuse!)

Old news perhaps, but in case anyone doesn't know: the concert tonight is an early start/finish as the Liquid Rooms hold a club every Friday night from 10.30pm. Apparently the band will be on stage around 8 and will finish around 10.
Wouldn't want FB to open to anything other than a full house, so sup up your beer and vacate the Bow Bar before 8.

Is that you Ferg? It must be. Does this mean that Serafin will be on for 15 mins only?
PS - should be in a Dog in the Sand t-shirt, if the temperature outside permits it

Nope, not Ferg, just someone who phoned the Liquid Rooms last night to find out the timings. If the doors open at 7, perhaps Serafin will be on sharpish.
Enjoy! |
