What we were all waiting for: the Rolling Stone review.

<<Vielleicht ist Frank Black der Große Amerikanische Song- schreiber, der alles integrierende Genius, der Genre-Magier und Ad-hoc-Autor, der hemdsärmelige Rock-Troglodyth und der lässige Pop-Connaisseur. Seine größten Taten, schon wahr, liegen 15 Jahre zurück: die Alben „Surfer Rosa“ und „Doolittle“ mit den Pixies. Und auch wahr ist, dass er diese frühen Explosionen niemals wiederholen konnte. Andererseits konfrontiert niemand Brian Wilson oder Van Morrison vorwurfsvoll mit den Wunderwerken ihrer jungen Jahre. Popmusik dieser Grandezza und Einzigartigkeit mag einem 25-Jährigen am besten gelingen.
Auch deshalb beschränkt sich Frank Black seit 1997 auf lockere Fingerübungen mit den Catholics. Sind es jetzt sechs oder sieben Platten? Dafür, dass er vermeintlich nicht viel zu sagen hat jenseits seiner Science-fiction-Begeisterung, sind das verdammt viele Geschichten. Und auch diesmal singt er ganz zärtlich wie in „My Favorite Kiss“, spielt den Blues in „New House Of The Pope“, gibt Country & Western in „Horrible Day“, raspelt allerliebst Süßholz in „Good- bye Lorraine“ und bratzt schräg in „This Old Heartache“, einem Stück, das im Refrain doch sehr an Leonard Cohen erinnert (an Lee Hazlewood gemahnt Black jetzt sowieso öfter). Rock-Nummern wie „The Snake“, zwei Minuten lang, kann er längst besser als Lou Reed und Iggy Pop, bei denen er sie abgeschaut hat. Dass der gemütvolle Launebär diesmal ganz traurig gewesen sein will, ist der Platte leider nicht recht anzumerken.
Im Grunde ist Frank Black den Weg vom Bilderstürmer zum perfekten Manieristen gegangen. Es wäre amüsant festzustellen, ob in der Kunst jemals jemand in die umgekehrte Richtung ging. Kim Deal womöglich (ein Witz!). >>

1) You need a horizontal line ([ hr] without the space:
2) The icon needs to be in front.
3) It needs to have two parts " X / Y"

es ist ein jammer: hier in wien kann man die neue scheibe noch nicht kaufen und ich bin mindestens zwanzig kilometers von einem lautsprecher oder einem kopfhörer entfernt, um sie aus dem computer zu hören! habt mitleid!
