Alright, so I'm reading a specification which, admittedly, is a little on the boring side.

On part says "If the server responds (from its UCMM), then the device is UCMM capable. Go to sleep"

And I read that and keep going on to the rest as I fight to keep my eyes open, and all of a sudden, I realize that it seems rather silly in a book this dry to say go to sleep. So I go back, and it really says, "Go to step 3".

Anyone else ever have something like that happen? When your brain is so tired it sends you subliminal messages?

Yes! Whenever I get too tired, my brain gets lazy and just fills in the blanks w/whatever is easiest for it instead of processing what's actually there. An example: a sign on a local church read "GIVE THANKS TO JESUS" and I swear to God I could have sworn it said "GIVE HANKIES TO JESUS." I thought, "What the hell does the Son of God need with a hankie? Is he allergic to ragweed?"

It will happen to you more and more as you get older. Enjoy!

hmm, i can't actually remember one off hand.
it kinda happens sometimes when people say things too, like if someone said, "i like guitar" i hear " i like to snarl". that is a terrible and unhumourous example, but i'm tired, and i want to eat icecream.

Here's a question... back in the days when I was in the dating game and even had a girlfriend, we used to chat on the phone a LOT. And I don't get much sleep to begin with, and I got even less then, and I'd be on 4 hours in the last two days and it'd be 3 AM and I'd have to be up for school at 7 AM, and my body would be fighting SO hard for me to get to sleep but of course you resist and keep talking. And then all of a sudden, you sort of drift into a semi-dream where all this stuff is going on which is scarcely or not at all related to what you're talking about and you don't wake-up (or whatever) until the other person says "what the hell are you talking about?!"

Ex:

PERSON 1: Yeah, Ms. Dyck is a lot of fun in Calculus, she has absolutely no control. I don't think I've learned anything that wasn't related to old cartoons.

ME: The ketchup's in the boat under the hull where the oars are.

PERSON 1: Expletives.

ME: Don't get excited. There's enough to do these 300 burgers, and if not, we have a big garden with lots of tomatoes and Patches knows how to make more..

PERSON 1: <>

No drugs or anything like that (I don't touch the stuff), just a real lack of sleep. And you wake up and realize you have no clue what you've been discussing. Sometimes you carried on the conversation without realizing it for awhile, other times, as above, well, who knows.

Bob does this when he's exhausted, particularly when I've requested that he stay awake to keep me company when I'm driving late at night. He can spout utter nonsensical bullshit for miles and have absolutely no recollection of it later. I need a little recorder so that I can preserve some of his ramblings for posterity (or alternatively, in case I ever need to have him committed.)

hehe..i do this too, too frequently to really point out. I make up about 500 puns every day too. And i'm not that tired, tho it does seem to happen more. Maybe i'm just a lazy listener/reader..

A really weird thing i do, when i get on the phone and i don't really want to talk but feel like i should (grandma), i end up looking at the walls and ceiling, and wondering what it would be like to walk through the house on those walls or ceiling.....

Great sig Sarah. =)

Yeah, that's the funny thing. I usually remember the circumstances of the dream or whatever, but not details like what was said. I wouldn't even believe it if she didn't describe my dream to me and jog my memory about what had happened in it from what I'd said the first time.

And your signature made me laugh out loud for about 30 seconds. But now that that's over, I'm a little hurt and may cry much longer since you already have forgotten about that big hug I sent you.

When I was in high school I would sleep A LOT during all my classes...it was a weird half sleep...like I was asleep, but I could still hear everyone talking and stuff. That was always weird.

Speaking of Sleep, the first time I heard SSMVGD was at about 4AM driving home 2 hours from DC after a very long and exhausting day and a 3 hour FB&TC concert. Needless to say, Sleep was the worst song that could have come on. Luckily, my sister (who was driving) almost hit 3 deer. That woke us up.

often i 'wake up' in the morning, have a normal conversation with someone, fall back to sleep and completly forget the earlier discussion.

Aw Dean, don't cry! I stuck your hug on the fridge next to my Dress Me Up David magnets.

I had a college roommate who had really strange sleep episodes. She looked like a pre-Raphaelite model, and she would wake up (but not be truly awake) with her wild hair flying everywhere and point at me and say delightful things like, "Fie! Fie! A pox!" Then a weird little cackle. Then right back to sleep. Creeped the shit out of me.

woah. that is pretty creepy. when we were younsters, i would stay over at my cousin's house and she would pretend to sleep talk, and say very distressing things. i can't remember what they were exactly, but they were distressing.

That is hilarious/awesome. The 'fie! fie! a pox!' bit. And very creepy. But mostly funny 'cause I wasn't there. And I'm happy/resentful/<inappropriate emotive adjective> that my hug is on the fridge.

That's fucked up! I almost always stay up later than my girlfriend, and I go to bed and start talking to her. There was a good while where I could actually "get into her head" and hold weird, broken conversations with her in her sleep. I actually taped some of the things she has said...she's said some wack things. One of my favorites is when she yelled at me and said "You think you're so hot, but you don't have the answers!" It's a lot of fun.

My first year in college I totally freaked out my roommate. He was studying on his bed while I slept. I sat up and told him, "Get in your box." I'm told he then asked me what I said and I repeated it. I then buried my face in my pillow and let out an evil cackle. He moved out half way through the year, I wonder why.

That's like in that movie with Billy Bob and Bruce Willis (I forget the name) and BB is such a hypochondriac, anyways he wakes up screamin "cows and chickens", funny.

Or sometimes if I'm really tired I'll type up a big document only to look up and find out that I had my hands one place over and now all I've got is some big jibberish document, damn I hate when that happens.

Yeah, I used to fight sleeping in class when I was in university, and I'd find out I'd drifted off later as the notes became smaller and messier and off the lines and soon were nothing related to class/indecipherable. But my head was up and my eyes were open.

It was really more than that though...my body felt asleep...my breathing and heartbeat changed. It was odd. Very odd.
